Early scene between the then-retired Jack and the newly assigned General Hammond, at the SGC:
Hammond: You didn't like Daniel Jackson, did you?
Jack: Daniel was a scientist. He sneezed alot. Basically, he was a geek, Sir.
Major Samuels: So you didn't have a lot of time for him?
Jack: I didn't say that. He also saved my life and found the way home for my men and me. A little thing like that kind of makes a person grow on ya, know what I mean?

Jack, in an effort to contact Daniel who is living on the planet of Abydos, sends Daniel a box of kleenex through the stargate. It seems Daniel suffers from allergies in the worst way. The response back: the kleenex box returned, now empty, with the message, "thanks, send more".
Jack to Sam in the conference room when they meet: "I like women; I just have a little problem with scientist."
On Abydos, Jack and his group are surrounded when Daniel appears. "Hello Jack, welcome back," Daniel states, anticipating a greeting as Jack walks forward; only Jack bypasses him to go to Skaara whom he hug; Daniel rolls his eyes, slightly disappointed but with that "so typical of Jack" look. Jack finally faces him. "Daniel, how ya doing?"

Sam rambles on when she finds the Dial Home Device, including a line referring to the MacGyver tv series, but as she talks, Daniel has that "who is that?" look. Their introduction is marvelous.
Sam: Dr. Jackson, I presume. I'm Doctor Samantha Carter.
Jack: I thought you wanted to be called Captain.
[Daniel is totally clueless here]

At dinner, Jack's look as Daniel and Sha're kiss like there's no tomorrow (sad prophecy here); he seems impressed; Daniel has done well for himself!

Later, entering the pyramid as he rambles about the wonders of the place, Daniel says to Sam, "Captain Doctor, you're going to love this" (apparently he hasn't figured out yet what to call her).
The immediate sparkage and connection of Sam and Daniel as they figure out the cartouche, and the looks on the faces of Jack and Kowalsky as they watch in total "huh"ness.
After many of the people of Abydos are killed or wounded when the Jaffa come, Daniel's "this is all my fault", and then when Jack tells him he has orders to bring Daniel back to earth, "I don't care about your orders, Colonel", and after that, Daniel looking at the wounded and feeling their pain, and being angry. Jack watching him ... and still watching with a bit of wonder as Daniel says goodbye to his friends.

One of the most tender moments ever, back at SGC, Jack sees Daniel standing alone in the hallway:
Jack: Hey.
Daniel: They don't know what to do with me, and I don't know what to do with myself.
Jack: C'mon, let's get out of here.
Jack takes Daniel home .. sweet, and they share about their feelings and losses, talking of Sha're, Daniel's wife, and Sara, Jack's wife, and of Charlie. This is a great bonding moment with two very private men sharing some very deep felt parts of themselves with one another.

As the meeting commences, and everyone takes a seat, Daniel seems to have a difficult time getting situated. Sam looks down at the bottom of his chair, too. Scripted "poor Daniel can't even sit smoothly" moment, or real life prop failure not worthy of a "cut"?
As Hammond gives out the SG-1 team assignment, Daniel pleads, "I really have to be on their team", and Jack's look to Hammond after the plea as if "how can we not let him join us". It's that he's a lost puppy thing and Jack is now responsible for him syndrome.

Here's a question - did Daniel go shopping when he came home? Where was his stuff from before he left? Did Jack give him clothes? All these unanswered questions for those suffering from Danielitis!
Daniel trying to explain the symbol on the dhd and his expression when Jack simply says "good job" and walks off.
Sam and Daniel chatting about Sha're and how they met; the early connection between these two characters continues.

Daniel going out front to talk to the people first encountered on their mission when Jack wants everyone to take cover, something that frustrates Jack to no end and which he has to get used to time and time again:
Jack: Hold up [signals to take cover, giving orders to Sam when he sees Daniel approaching the people]; "oh, for crying out loud.."
Daniel: Hi
Jack: The man has not changed.
Daniel: We just came through the stargate..........
Jack: Friends of yours?
Daniel: Unless we want to give ourselves a really bad reputation, I just think we should avoid shooting the first people we meet on a new planet. [Daniel pushes Sam's and Jack's guns downward and returns to talk to the people]
Daniel seeing Sha're; Jack's look when Sha're steps in front of Apophis
Sam waking Daniel after he was knocked out; Daniel collapsing and asking Jack for help - "Jack, help me, please."
Sam, already looking so pained and sympathic towards Daniel, when Sha're appears at the choosing
Not sure I like Kowalsky telling Daniel what to do, but love Sam and Daniel working on dialing home as the clock ticks on....
Sam: Dr. Jackson!
Daniel: I got. I know; I have it here. [as he desperately flips through pages of his notebook]
Sam: C'mon!
and, most especially, Daniel's smile as he finds the correct address, followed by and Sam's "go go go"
Sam going thru the gate first ..... Daniel sticking around to help refugees through the gate .... Daniel's stare at Jack when he tells him to go throug the gate even though Jack and Teal'c are still fighting .... Sam's grabbing Daniel as he comes through the gate and how they wait to see if Jack and Teal'c make it, and then, in unison, twice yet, both say "hold your fire, hold your fire" as Teal'c comes through.

Our team assembled at the foot of the stargate for the first time
Daniel: She's out there somewhere, Jack.
Jack: I know, so is Skaara
Daniel: So what do we do?
Jack: [with a pat on the arm] We find them.
Sam and Daniel, connecting yet again, thinking so much alike:
Daniel: ....so the device should be on every planet we find; I studied the one on Abydos for months; it's sort of like a....
Sam: ...a telephone
Daniel: [right on beat] ...telephone. I like that. In order to get back home, all you have to do is Dial Earth....
Again, Sam and Daniel, connecting via science and on a personal level at the SGC:
Sam: When was the last time you slept?
Daniel: [a tired laugh] I don't know. [he needs a hug badly]
Sam: It doesn't help when the whole base goes on alert every 2 hours.
Daniel: No, it's not that; it's just that my mind races and I can't stop thinking about Sha're - where she is, what she's become.
Sam: I know, but you can't stay awake forever.
Daniel: [another sad smile] I can try [raising cup of caffeinated coffee] but you're right. I'll meet you at the next briefing.
Poor Daniel, he goes to get some sleep and what does he find in the upper bunk? A dead doctor!
A little “oops:. Sam enters the infirmary and tells Daniel and Jack that Hammond is being forced to send Teal'c away; Daniel exits with Jack, but when we see Jack talking to Hammond, Daniel is nowhere to be found.
The ending, when Sam gives Daniel hope, talking about Kowalsky and the Goa'uld that took over his body, and the little gleam of hope in his eye when he realizes that "something of the host must remain".
The very last scene, when for the first time, the four members of SG-1 are assembled and headed on their first mission together.

Daniel: Hello, I'm Daniel Jackson. This is....[pause, look at Jack (who is that guy again)?]Jack: Jack.
Daniel: Jack. [almost right with him]
Abu: This is a woman!
Jack: Oh yeah.
Daniel's early formality on occasion, in this show and others, when he refers to Jack and Sam by title, such as, "Colonel, I think these people are monguls" and later, "Doctor, we're about ready to go." Oh pu-leeez, Daniel .... let's stick with Jack and Sam!
My favorite moment of the show -- the ogling, oooooogling, and in general men staring blatantingly at Sam in the dress; the beginning has several seconds of simple glaring at her which is pure fun, especially the Jack smirk. Earlier, Sam had objected to changing her attire, but Daniel suggested she go along, noting that many anthropologists dress like the natives they are studying.Sam: Daniel, find me an anthropologist who dresses like this, and I will eat this headdress.
Abu: You are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen.
Sam: Guess the kid doesn't get out much; look, I will not wear this thing over my face, I don't care how much embroidery it has on, and this..dress.. or whatever it's called, I mean, I can't move, I can't walk.
Jack: I don't know....it kinda works for me.
Daniel: Wow .. it's you, it's...
Jack: It's you.
Daniel: It's definitely you.
Jack's calling her "Samantha" in the rest of the conversation, before the men exit to go to a party, leaving Sam alone for the night, Daniel's little blow kiss goodbye with Jack's parting smirk. [okay, the little blow kissy goodbye is debatable, but watch it in slow mo and then decide for yourself; it's cute, no matter what!] Love this scene; Daniel never takes his eyes of Sam, and Jack looks like he will crack up at any second. Teal'c looks like he doesn't know what to think!
Daniel: How is it that you always come up with the worse case scenario?Jack: I practice.
Michael, er Daniel, on horseback!
Daniel and Moughal talking about wives:
Moughal: My people see it as a weakness {having only one wife].
Daniel: Because you love her?
Moughal smiles, and Daniel smiles -- too cute!
Sam's smile and "yes" when she sees SG-1 there to get her!
Moughal: He is suffering the madness as I did when I was young
Daniel: It's what they call love. [explaining to Sam]
Daniel must be tired; he's a little slow getting up when Abu comes with the news about Nya ... everyone else is long up before he finally rises!
Sam and Daniel smiling at each other at the end.....
Daniel: But we all wish you and Nya many years of happiness and many sons, too! [Sam thwaps Daniel in the side, prompting the additional comment] .....and daughters!
Sam: So do you think this new anesthia will be a miracle drug on earth?Daniel: Well if it is, I bet somebody else will get the credit; we can never say where it came from.
Jack: Guess I'm going to have to cancel that Oprah interview.
Teal'c: What is an Oprah?
Makepeace: Don't yout worry, Boys, that's why the SG-3 marines are coming with; you can count on us to watch your backsides.
Daniel: Actually, it was more my front side I was worried about.
Makepeace: Okay, we'll take point.
Jack: We go through first, you watch our lovely backsides, remember.
Makepeace: Have it your way, flyboy.
Daniel: Are you out of your mind?
Jack: If Skaara or Sha're are on the other side, those jarheads will open fire as soon as they see the light of their eyes, if you know what I mean .... you want that?
[Daniel outstretches his hand.....lol....Jack isn't as dumb as he pretends!]
Jack making the mark of zorro in the gate before going through.
Jack: Daniel, what are they?
Daniel: Well, they don't look completely homosapien ..... [and he rambles on for several lines]
Jack: You don't know, do you?
Daniel: [without missing a beat] No.
Hammond: Find anything?
Jack: No Sir.
Daniel: Yes, Sir, ah actually, Sir, we found a whole hell of a lot, Sir..Sir
Jack: Some beautiful decor, nice folks; nothing of strategic importance, Sir.
Daniel: I'm sorry, Sir, I know I'm a guest at this party, but I have to protest.
Hammond: Let me guess, Doctor .. is this the science vs military discussion again?
Daniel: Well, yes, this mission was a perfect example of my argument; we should have stayed on that planet longer; it was the perfect opportunity to study Minoan culture.
Sam: Not to mention primitive man.
Hammond: This really isn't necessary, Doctors, I've already...
Daniel: Sir, would you let me finish, please?
[he goes on with Sam about the Broca divide... Jack yawns ...] Jack: Fascinating. Should I start the debriefing, Sir?
Hammond: That would be a good idea, Colonel.
Daniel: Now just ..just wait a minute.
Hammond: Dr. Jackson, you're wasting your breath; you've already won the argument.
Daniel: But I have to insist that you [finally realizing what Hammond had said]... what, what what... I've already won?
Hammond: The president agrees with you; he's asked that we evaluate the scientific and cultural value of each mission from now on.
Jack: Oh, for crying out loud.
Daniel: He has.
Sam: That's great!

Jack: She tried to seduce me.
Daniel: Oh. [raised eyebrows] ... you poor man.
Jack and Daniel as Jack gets jealous of Daniel going to see "Samantha"; how Daniel says "I care about her"; how Daniel knows something is wrong and suggests they go to the infirmary; how he does not fight back against his friend ... our subtle triangle.
[see the end of this section for a link to a wonderful fanfic that picks up on this aspect of the story]

Hammond: Alright, either of you know how do draw blood; Doctor, teach them; you go through in half an hour; gear up.
Daniel: [a bit panicky] ... Wait wait wait wait... just the two of us?

Hammond: You're immune; I don't know of anyone else who is.
As they enter the gateroom, Daniel sneezes, prompting Teal'c to reassure him:
Teal'c: Do not worry, Daniel Jackson; the touched are frightened by your loud earth weapons; we can easily subdue them.
Daniel: That's easy for you to say.
| Teal'c: I am afraid I lost Daniel Jackson on the dark side of the planet. I am sorry. |
Jack: Lucy, I'm home.
Love Jack going to rescue Daniel and his look when Sam asks, "Do you think he's still alive?
Jack: Daniel, you dog. Keep this up, you'll have a girl on every planet.

Daniel: Jack? [love love love how Daniel, first coming to, calls out for Jack without actually knowing where he is, especially when Teal'c is standing right by him; it's nothing against Teal'c, I just love the connection between Jack and Daniel being so strong that in this type of situation, it's almost natural for Daniel to be looking for Jack before he's even fully aware again]Jack: There's our boy. [again, love how he immediately rises to go to Daniel]
Daniel: Where are we? [love Teal'c giving Daniel his glasses; very sweet]
Teal'c: The light side of P3X797.
Daniel: I thought we were gonna give it a better name.
Jack: He's back; he's normal.
Daniel looking scruffy for the final few minutes of the show, especially since he has no more dialogue. He simply either sits or walks, looking cute and scruffy [love him walking in the background, putting his hand to the back of his head, still recovering apparently from his ordeal]
Someone with the handle of ELG wrote this MARVELOUS short piece of fan fic as a tag for the Broca Divide. A quick snippet, "I know I'm going to have to go over there in a minute and tell our limping linguist that I'm sorry I punched him, and I really don't want to. I'm not saying that Daniel needs to see me as infallible – although wouldn't that be nice? – but I definitely think he needs to see me as being right at least most of the time...". This snippet doesn't even begin to reveal how terrific this piece it. As Jack talks to himself about the pros and cons of apologizing, asks the questions no one would dare actually ask during the show about Daniel's time with the Touched, and Daniel's responses are priceless! I'd love to clip more, but it's something you have to read from the beginning, and it's worth the few minutes it will take. It's funny, and it's emotional, and for Jack and Daniel fans, it really brings a closure to this particular episode, showcasing their friendship in the progress. It's a must read, so click here for a funny few minutes with ELG and her (or maybe his) creation "Under My Skin".
