Mount Airy Learning Tree's Computer Volunteer Group

Meeting notes 10/16/04:

Greg discussed the possibility of volunteers going to the electronic
recycle center to get rid of old equipment?some Saturday in October?date to
be determined.

He spoke about the mission of CVG: to be of service to non-profit community
groups. He discussed having members do a "walk-through" at First
Presbyterian Church in Germantown. They need to have a network set up and
will make a donation to CVG, which we can use to purchase hardware and
software at computer shows.

We then broke into groups for projects. Wes, Vandy, Jamal and Alex worked
on Alex' computer to see why it crashes whenever he tries to view streaming
video. A large number of spy programs were discovered. Alex needs to run
AdAware to get rid of them. No firm diagnosis was made, but it may be a
faulty video card (to be determined next week).

I worked on another Gold Star computer with a bad floppy drive. I swapped
out its floppy, but, although it was working, the operating system did not
recognize it. I will try a new cable and a new driver next week.
