Mount Airy Learning Tree's Computer Volunteer Group

Meeting notes for 6/16/04

Three new volunteers joined us from the Build a PC class. Elaine, Stan and Valerie.

We reviewed our current projects, mission of the group and the layout of the network at MAPC and Pleasant playground. Briefly discussed making cables and the setup of networks, cable boxes, routers and hubs.

Susan is still updating the website with our meeting notes. We all appreciate Susan's help. Because her work schedule has kept her from our attending on Wednesday nights, Susan is offering to train someone to handle to takeover updating the web page. Let me know if you are interested.

Projects
----------------------------
Wes, Valerie and Elaine  worked with the IBM 300gl that we are preparing for the college student. They used Drive Image to create a copy of the Windows 98 configuration on that machine. We will use that image to quickly configure any machines of the same model.

Stan Marva Lisa and myself worked on stripping parts from some of the old machines. They learned more about identifying components. We got all of our components properly stored away. Hopefully we will finish the "Strip for Parts" pile before the July electronics recycling day.

Kofa stopped by to pick up an old PC she had left. It had already been scrapped, so we will set her up with a better one next week. Adonica got married on Saturday. Jonelle has two more weeks of class and then will be returning to the group. Matt will also be gone for for two weeks. He will be hiking in Colorado.

Reminder
----------------------------------
CVG Cookout is Saturday, August 21st, at 221 W. Upsal Street (Wes's House).
