IGBO ANNUAL TOURNAMENT
We received our welcome pack from IGBO,
which consisted of the bylaws, fall
newsletter, and tournament info.
We discovered that in order to complete
our membership, one of us has to be in
attendance at either the mid-year or
annual meeting. The mid-year
meeting was in November, but the annual
meeting is in May (23-28) in
Denver. This is also one of the
biggest tournaments of the year.
The tournament is a USBC certified
tournament. Since we chose not to
join USBC this year, we're still waiting
to hear from IGBO to see if we're
allowed to use our established handicaps
or not. As soon as I find out,
I'll let you know.
The host hotel is the Marriott Denver
City Center, with room rates at $79 or
$89 a night plus taxes. The
tournament fee is $95, plus any
individual USBC fee (if
applicable). Other activities
(fees not included) include a Casino
night trip, a golf outing, white water
rafting, Rocky Mountain National Park
visit, and a quilt viewing (IGBO panels
for the AIDS quilt). All entries
must be postmarked by May 8th.
This promises to be quite the
event. Bowlers who attend these
tournaments always remember them.
I would love to get a team of 4 (or
more) to go out and enjoy the
festivities! Let me or any of the
other officers know if you're interested
in attending.
OTHER IGBO TOURNEYS
Other local IGBO tournaments coming up
in the next few months are:
Sweetheart Invitational in New Haven -
Feb 16-18; Gotham Open in NYC - April
13-15; GREAT in Rochester, NY - May
4-6. See Tim R. for details on
these and other tourneys throughout the
year.
SINGERS THANK YOU!
Just a quick note of thanks to all of
you who attended either the NHGMC
concerts or either of Karen's
performances last month. I can't
speak for Karen, but the chorus had
record attendances this winter, so
thanks for your support!
SECOND HALF STARTS TONIGHT
The first half of the season ended with
a classic dual for first place between
Shady Balls & Up Your Alley.
Both teams battled well, but U.Y.A.
managed to edge out the win.
Congratulations to both teams for their
first half efforts. Remember the
2nd half of the season starts tonight,
so everyone's chances are back to
even! Good Luck to all!
SMOKING BREAKS
Alas, we're still having a bit of an
issue with the extended breaks.
I'll be the first to admit that we have
improved GREATLY in our bowling
etiquette since last year. We all
appreciate the breaks being limited to
in between games, but if we could limit
them to just a few minutes instead of
lengthy breaks, it would be much more
appreciated. Thanks for your
efforts!
