Welcome to the Michael Family Cemetery

Oxford Home, Circa 1890

The Michael Family Cemetery in Oxford Community, Doddridge County, West Virginia, is the last resting place of Peter Broadwater Michael (1844-1903) and his wife, Angelina Brice Collins Michael (1844-1920), and their descendants and family friends. The cemetery is located on top of a hill in a pasture West of the Michael home. Created in 1900, the cemetery has been continuously used and cared for by family members for over a century.

Shown above is the Michael Family home. It was built some time after 1878. Pictured in this photo, taken circa 1890, are Peter (standing left), his wife Angelina (seated), their only son and seventh child John George Michael, and, on the balcony, two of their six daughters: Jessie (left) and Brice (right). Although ownership of the property (except for the cemetery) left family hands in the late 1930s, the home was continuously occupied from its construction to 2005.
