soccer. Low costs, no monthly fees, no politics, excellent training,
caring team staff who want to teach kids to love the game and great
communication from the club. They do it right and keep it in perspective.

NKSC
BU17 NK Storm '94 Regional Champions - Pacific Coast Super Cup!
BU17
NK Storm '94 took home the gold in Regional play at the Pacific Coast
Super Cup (PCSC).
PCSC is a regional and open event where teams from any youth soccer
organization from WA, OR & ID compete to crown regional champions in
U13-U18 age groups.
In their first season playing Puget Sound Premier League, Storm placed 3rd
in the heavily contested BU17 Super league earning them a spot at PCSC.
Storm entered PCSC finding heavy competition yet advancing out of Bracket
play from the first leg played a few weeks ago at Starfire.
They traveled to Tualatin, OR for the Elimination, Quarter-Finals and
Semi-finals winning all 3 very close matches again against BU17 teams many
from the highly competitive Oregon Premier League, the highest in the
state of Oregon.
They earned their Finals birth against a favored Oswego Southside Soccer
Academy '94 Green team (only 1 GA going into Finals). With the score tied
1-1 in a hotly contested Final match, Storm crossed the ball towards goal
with only 1 min left. Storm headed and the goalie couldn't hold on as
Storm cleaned up the mess for the game winner!
Congrats to BU17 NK Storm 94 a wonderful team of very dedicated and
talented players. They earned themselves a great victory while
representing NKSC well in this prestigious regional honor!

There's "Snow" Game Today

So what do you do when the opposing team from
Spokane can't make it over the mountains due to snow? If you are BU16
Coach Dave Imperio, you quickly make calls and get as many Explosion and

NKSC Earns Championships at the Younger Ages in 2011
For
the first time NKSC BU11 and GU11 earned Championship honors for Fall
League in their inaugural season!
GU11 NK Storm 00 (left top) took 1st place in the Puget Sound
Premier League GU11 Copa division with 11 wins and 1 loss. The team

BU11 NK Ballistic 00 (left bottom) clinched the Puget Sound Premier

finished the season 10W-1L-1T Coach Rod Green remarked "these boys fought
hard all season long to earn the No. 1 spot in the ranks. We couldn't be
more proud of them!". NKSC could not be more proud either. CONGRATS

2011 Fall League (October 2011)
Should Have Played on Artificial Turf?

BU16 NK Dynamo enjoyed a causal afternoon wallowing in the mud and playing
a little soccer too.
Arriving at Janicki Field in Sedro-Woolley Dynamo knew the day would be a
challenge after seeing their "field" more resembled a good place to
4-Wheel then play soccer.
It maybe wasn't soccer but it was sure FUN!

2011 Summer Camps (August 2011)
Island Lake Rope Course for GU14 NK Blast 97

NK Blast 97 recently
completed team building exercises at Island Lake. The event started with
all players standing on a small tarp and then collectively figuring out
how to turn over the tarp without any players ever touching the bare
ground. In addition players successfully completed navigating elevated
obstacles on the Ropes Confidence Course, including climbing, swinging and
jumping onto the “spider web” of rope. Blast players had a great time
building confidence and team camaraderie.
GU14 NK Blast 97 coached by Glen Godfrey will be competing in Dist 3 Fall
League.
GOOD WORK BLAST!

2011 Summer Tournaments (August 2011)
NKSC Dominant at the Bainbridge Island Cup
What a great end of August
weekend for NKSC Competitive teams while supporting our neighbors in their
inaugural Bainbridge Island Cup.
NKSC teams went 5 for 5 on Championship day with BU11 NK Ballistic, GU11
NK Storm, BU12 NK Asteroids, BU13 NK Inferno, and BU14 NK Comets all
taking home the gold.
Add to that GU14 NK Blast 97 just missing the finals by a single point and
our PCA team playing in some close games (1-2, 1-2, 0-0), GU13 NK Chaos
and our Recreational team BU13 NK Lightning also playing tough but
unfortunately did not advance.
Overall, NKSC had a combined tournament record of 19W, 10L and 3T.
Asteroids, Inferno & Comets all swept their divisions. Storm & Ballistic
both avenged their only pool play losses by beating those same teams in
the final.
An extraordinary weekend for all NKSC teams.
WELL DONE!

2011 Summer Tournaments (August 2011)
Oops! Ballistic Did it Again

They did it again! In back
to back tournaments, no less! BU-11 NK Ballistic 00 has one their second
tournament championship brining home the gold at the Bainbridge Island Cup
2011. This is Ballistic's 2nd full field go around in their inaugural year
with NKFC's Competitive program.
The first 2 wins in bracket play were a confidence booster. After a 7-1
loss to Storm King in game 3, Ballistic went home, regrouped and showed up
ready to play in the finals, dealing Storm King a 2-0 loss that they
didn't see coming.
Head Coach Rodney Green said, "Yesterday's loss against Storm King fired
up the boys for today's match. They came to play and played with heart and
perseverance. The 7-1 loss was not acceptable to them and they sent their
message loud and clear with a shut out in the finals."
What a great way to finish the summer tournament season and roll right
into the PSPL fall league season. WAY TO GO BALLISTIC! Good luck in
Fall league.

2011 Summer Tournaments (August 2011)
First Championship "Hardware" for GU11 NK Storm!

With steady improvement
throughout only 3 months as a competitive team GU11 NK Storm '00 finished
their summer tournament season on a high note as the 2011 Bainbridge
Island Tournament Champions!
NK Storm was able to clinch a finals berth
quickly with 2 wins in a row. Their third match against a physical
Snohomish side ended in 0-2 loss with the rematch of the same 2 teams in
the finals.
Coach Greg' St Peter's strategy was to come
out hard against Snohomish hoping the team might be a little overconfident
having just beat Storm. Storm came out quickly to 1-0 lead but then
allowed a long, high shot by Snohomish to tie the game.
Storm stepped up their physical play and battled Snohomish even through
overtime to send the match to shootouts to decide the Championship.
Kicks from the mark took 8 players to complete the win helped by
outstanding goalie play by Maya Kraus who made 3 critical saves helping
Storm avenge their earlier loss to Snohomish and to clinch the
Championship!
Coach Greg remarked "This was ideal timing to win our first tournament.
Our confidence is high and we're ready to start the fall season!".
GU11 will be playing in the Fall 2011 Puget Sound Premier League.
Congrats to Storm for their first "hardware",
first Championship and a strong showing going into their season!

Asteroids Rocket to the Island Cup
Championship

The BU12 NK Asteroids entered the Bainbridge Island Cup and went
undefeated as they captured the Gold Division Championship.
Congrats to BU12 NK Asteroids for GREAT a
tournament season end EFFORT.
Additionally, the Asteroids are looking forward to an overseas trip to
England in early 2012 where they have some sightseeing and planned
in-between their "friendlies" with some BU12 teams.
Read more about the trip
here.
Before that, BU12 NK Asteroids will be playing
in the Super Division of the Puget Sound Premier League this fall.
Good luck in Fall League Asteroids!

2011 Summer Tournaments (August 2011)
Dynamo Stomps the Competition at Bigfoot

BU16 NK Dynamo '95 may have
been the small town underdog at the recent Snohomish Bigfoot Tournament,
but after they knocked off the number one seed to make it to the finals,
Dynamo felt like top dog.
The match of the weekend was undoubtedly the come-from-behind win in extra
time 2-1 in the semi-final against a team who had beaten them in their
last tournament. With no loses and giving up only one goal this tournament
Dynamo went into the final game with 2 wins and 2 ties.
Dynamo competed valiantly and strongly in the Finals against the Greater
Renton team. With only a 1 1/2 hour break since the end of the semi-final
Dynamo ultimately lost the final to GRFC 3-2 despite some very skilled
play.
Coach, Dave Imperio, was very pleased with Dynamo's overall improvement of
play and performance. The team has been working on a Brazilian style of
play since summer camp, The players have taken it to heart and their hard
work seemed to really make a difference in this tournament.
Dynamo is pumped and ready for action for this fall's PSPL league!
NICE JOB NK DYNAMO!

2011 Summer Tournaments (August 2011)
NK Asteroids Clash at the Border Finalist

The Asteroids faced some
stiff competition from Washington & Oregon accumulating 2Ws & 1T in pool
play. The final was an exciting back and forth affair which included shots
off the crossbar and a missed penalty kick by the host Washington Soccer
Academy (WSA). WSA scored to end the game (golden-goal) about a minute
into the second overtime.
CONGRATS to BU12 NK Inferno for a GREAT SHOWING!

2011 Summer Tournaments (August 2011)
GU12 NK Intrepid on a Roll

By all accounts GU12 NK
Intrepid is rolling along nicely during the summer tournament season. Only
a few weeks after tallying their first finals showing at Federal Way the
girls found themselves in a similar position at the South Mason Kickoff.
Intrepid swept through bracket play on Friday and Saturday winning all 4
matches advancing them to the Finals on Sunday. There Intrepid met a
rejuvenated South Kitsap team who they had previously beaten but found
themselves down 0-3 with 15 mins left in the game. With renewed energy and
determination Intrepid, lead by a hat trick by Maia Larsen, scored from a
corner kick, another on a rebound and finally tied the score on a
breakaway sending the finals match into overtime. South Kitsap scored the
championship goal shortly into overtime.
HATS OFF to GU12 NK Intrepid for another fantastic showing! Congrats to
all the girls for your hard work and to Maia for your hat trick!
NICE JOB LADIES!

Ballistic Rockets Away at Blast Off

In a sweeping victory
BU11 NK Ballistic 00 won their first full-field tournament at the Federal
Way Blast Off 2011. Winning 2 and tying one in bracket play, Ballistic
advanced to the finals where they avenged their tie beating Sparta 2-1 for
the championship. The boys are very excited to sport their first
tournament medals and they are hoping to have more to follow. They are
also very excited and looking forward to their next tournament, the
Bainbridge Island Cup in late August. The team is coached by Rodney Green.
WELL DONE Ballistic. Keep working hard!

2011 Summer Tournaments (August 2011)
A Promise Kept

Promising nothing less than
a championship from their participation in the Federal Way Blastoff
tournament, BU12 NK Asteroids made good capturing the gold. This
championship was particularly special not because of their brash
pre-tournament assertion but because it was dedicated to Betsy Sustad.
Betsy is the mother of Asteroid player Peter Sustad and is currently
battling cancer. The team wore pink shirts (Betsy’s favorite color) that
said “We kick it for Betsy” for the entire tournament then presented
teammate Peter and his mom with the Championship Plaque after the win.
God's speed Betsy! North Kitsap Soccer Club is in your corner!

GU12 NK Intrepid Breaks Through

GU12 NK Intrepid earned their first piece of "hardware" by placing GU12
Runner Up at Federal Way Blast Off.
Intrepid won 1-0 against the Federal Way Strikers to start the tournament.
After losing to Vancouver Thunder 1-5 and some post-game "prompting" by
Coach Mike Corey, Intrepid bounced back beating Kent United White
decisively 7-1. The win launched Intrepid into the final vs the
Vancouver Thunder again.
The finals were a much different story then the first time the teams met.
Coach Mike remarked, "the girls played really tough the whole game and
despite a few important calls that did not go our way we had a great
chance to win. Ultimately we came up a bit short 3-2. I am very proud of
the girls for giving it their all. Both the girls and I truly believed we
could have won."
WAY TO GO NK INTREPID 99! Keep up the great play - LOVE your new uniforms!

One Last Championship Before HS for Lady Norse

After coming up a bit short this summer at the Snohomish Invitational and
the Western Border Cup in Idaho, GU15 Lady Norse got back to their winning
ways at Marysville Strawberry Classic. Following a slow 2-1 start on Fri.,
Lady Norse got hot with 2 (3-0) shutouts and a 2-0 shutout in the final vs
SSC Patriots. Defense sparkled as the team finally came together on all
cylinders to win their last tournament of the summer. The girls will now
split up for high school soccer. Coach Kurt and Steve wish them the best
of luck and success in that endeavor and expect to come bask together for
Winter League GREAT JOB LADY NORSE! Rock the HS world!

2011 Summer Camp (July 2011)
Little Norway Takes on Some Brazilian Flair

For the second time in recent years NKSC welcomed
BFUT- Instituto Brasileiro de Futebol to Little Norway to conduct a 4 day,
32 total hour player and coach immersion into Brazilian football training
techniques. BU15 & BU16 Coach Dave Imperio organized this outstanding
training opportunity.
Coach Dave's BU15 NK Explosion 96 and BU16 NK Dynamo 95 along with players
from GU13 NK Chaos 98 and a few others experienced intense conditioning,
perspiration, motivation and inspiration with some dry wit thrown in.
"Educator” Thedeu Goncalves brought his Brazilian passion, compassion,
discipline, and focus to our budding soccer stars. The players were amazed
at how Thedeu emphasized the small but very important aspects of
dribbling, passing and ball control, balance and rhythm. At camp end the
players were exhausted but know now that the limits they face are of their
own making.
In addition to player training Coaches Brazilian licensing training was
also conducted to which 5 NKSC staff members are expected to certify once
they complete and submit their final project.
On the final day of training, the players signed a framed group photo and
presented it to Thedeu with many thanks and an invitation to return to
Poulsbo in the future. SUPER JOB NKSC!

NK Inferno 98 Torches Baker Blast

Facing teams from Canada and WYS Regional clubs BU13 NK Inferno torched
the fields taking the BU13 Copa Division Championship at Baker Blast.
With only a handful of practices under their belts but coming off a
successful Fall League Championship Coach Aaron said the team "really
played phenomenally". He was particularly impressed noting the way they
"maintained possession, passed and worked the ball down the field was
something to see. Our defense was stifling."
The newest Inferno players have fit right in and two of the three even
scored. NK Inferno ended up their Championship weekend averaging 2 goals
per game with a 4W-0L-1T record with 10 GF and 4 GA.
Coach Aaron praised his team "I'm extremely proud of these boys!"
Keep Up the Great Work NK Inferno!

2011 Summer Tournaments (May 2011)
NK Explosion 96 Rocks at Starfire

BU15 NK Explosion advanced to the finals and finished in second place at
the 2011 Memorial Day Tournament at Starfire.
In doing so Explosion dispensed with their cross-county rivals from
Tracyton with a 2-1 win lead by Explosion's ODP player Raul De Luna
leading off the scoring and Eric Imperio burying the game winning goal.
Alex Worland was outstanding in goal, and had many great saves. As a team
every Explosion player contributed. Coach Dave commented "I always knew
that we were the better team and today we proved it".
The final game showed Explosion’s spirit and determination. Coach Dave's
final comment was "I am proud to be NK Explosion 96's coach, win or lose
we are the greatest team!"

Girl's
Can Play in the Rain Too!

Not to be out done by the
mud and wet field of BU12 & BU14 tryouts on 13 March, GU12 NK Chaos 98
takes a rest at halftime during their home match the same day. Despite the
monsoon rain Chaos fought hard against their USCS Spring League
opponents ISC Gunners A. Even with the heavy rain and cool temps the girls
managed a 2-2- tie before retreating to their warmer and driers homes for
a quieter Sunday. Congrats girls!

The
"Moose" was Loose in Chilliwack, BC!

When the Chilliwack Soccer tournament brackets were published, NK Lady
Norse found themselves misnamed to the Lady "Moose", much to the amusement
of all. Although this was a source of jokes and endless needling
throughout the tournament, the Canadians found Lady "Moose" soccer to be
no laughing matter.
Despite being one year older and similarly bigger, the Canadian teams
could not match Lady Norse's physical style and endurance, as the Norse
went undefeated in the round robin play.
They met Yukon Strikers in the final, a team that traveled 1400 miles
south from Whitehorse, Yukon Territories to attend the event. Lady Norse
dispatched them in the final 5-1, winning their second tournament in two
weeks and appearing in the finals in in 10 tournaments dating back 2
years.
Besides having fun on the pitch, North Kitsap families had a wonderful end
of summer trip to the gorgeous Chilliwack/Cultus Lake region of British
Columbia that they will long remember.

Federal
Way Blast Off Launches GU13 NK Blast 97

GU13 NK Blast 97 went into the Federal Way Blast Off expecting some good
competition. What they received was unexpected, a slot in upper
competitive GU13 bracket!
Making the best of it Coach Cheryl Fogg challenged her team to compete.
"They were placed in a bracket above where we wanted to be and
unfortunately did not advance to the finals. But they really played well
at times and there were a lot of small rewards in every game. I was really
proud of them and you can be too as they always play very hard and
represent NKSC well."
Blast went 0W-2L-1T but regardless, the team proved to themselves they can
compete very well against tough opponents. This confidence will serve them
well in the future.
Keep up the good work NK Blast 97!

competing very well as they are more consistently putting themselves in
positions to win. NK Dynamo will be playing in a highly competitive US

best teams and clubs in the state.
The team and players are progressing well. Coach Herb and Assistant Dave

Explosion - BU14 Kick In The Grass Champions!

NK Explosion 96 dominated at the Kick in
the Grass tournament despite an unlucky beginning. Starting keeper Alex
Worland sustained a cracked wrist during first game warm-ups. Coach Dave

and he is ready!". Back up Alex Blanchard, new to both the keeper position
and competitive soccer, stepped in and with the aid of his teammates did
not coincide one goal. Alex and NK Explosion shut out every opponent
while on the attack Explosion scored a total of 22 goals with 11 separate

2010
Tryouts - ANOTHER Great Success!
Thanks to everyone for another successful 2010 tryouts as we averaged
nearly 24 players per team during tryouts!
Our teams again are receiving some very talented players from all over the
county and even have some players traveling from as far away as across the
Tacoma Narrows Bridge, Port Angeles and Jefferson County to play for our
teams.
From State Champions and those participating in every State Cup to
in-state, regional (Idaho, California, Oregon) and international travel (England)
locations, our teams are again looking forward to competing in
leagues from the
highest in WA State through age and developmentally appropriate leagues
for our younger teams.
Our talented players continue to make up the core of local
HS Varsity soccer programs
and our most accomplished have even gone on to play and excel in
college.
Most importantly NKSC does all this with the highest qualified volunteer
coaching staff on the western peninsula for the
lowest cost and NO MONTHLY per player coaches fees! As

Skelly, Prevost, Troka & Catania Create Quite a Stir in the
NCAA
Four
NKSC alumni
Stephanie Skelly, Steve Prevost, John Troka and Bobby
Catania created quite a stir for their respective college teams in
2009.
Skelly (NK Fuego United 88) was selected Northwest Conference (NWC)
First Team All Star for the
Willamette University (Salem, OR) Bearcats. She is a sophomore
midfielder/striker who lead the Bearcats n scoring with 6 goals, 3 game
winning on their way to a 3rd place conference finish.
Not to be outdone Prevost (NK Villa) was named NWAACC West Division
Most Valuable Player and First Team All Star while playing for the West
Regional League Champion
Pirates of
Peninsula College (Port Angeles, WA). Prevost, a sophomore central defender,
finished with 1 goal and 4 assists and most importantly led a back line
that gave up only 11 goals in conference play, including three shutouts.
His Pirate teammates Troka (6 goals, 8 assists) and Catania
(3 goals 2 assists) represented NKSC and their club team NK Fusion quite
well also contributing to Peninsula's success with a post season playoff
run to the quarterfinals of the Championship tournament.
Congrats to these successful NKSC alumni student athletes!

2009 Team Camps (July 2009)
NK Explosion 96 - Kicks it up at Ft. Worden

Coach Dave Imperio knows that
building teamwork takes more than just showing up for weekly practices,
games and tournaments. This year, BU13 NK Explosion 96 has a new mix of
players and coaches. To help the team get to know each other better, work
on skills and have a great time - Dave quickly put together a 3 day soccer
camp at Ft. Worden. The schedule was a full one and ran from 6:30 a.m. to
10:30 p.m. The activities included plenty of soccer mixed with a lot of
fun. Parent volunteers helped chaperone and support the 3-day event. The
weather was perfect and a great time was had by all. It was a huge success
and Coach Dave is already planning for next year!
