AgujaCabra [10:23 PM]: Okay... Thomas now knows that the city developed because of oil located close by... there's still a refinery, but they do not mine oil her anymore. There used to be a railroad that cut through town, but it's behind the refinery now .
AgujaCabra [10:23 PM]: um... They suspected arson for the fires, but could never pinpoint anyone.
AgujaCabra [10:24 PM]: Additonal fires have popped up from time to time in Midsomer since.

NerwenGreen [10:45 PM]: "Yes. Much of what James said earlier tonight has caused me to wish to learn more." Thomas answers.
NerwenGreen [10:46 PM]: "Well, what do you want to do now? The night is still young, "Ryan says. Cracking a grin, he adds "We could go see what the night life is like."
NerwenGreen [10:46 PM]: "That will not be necessary," Thomas says quickly.
NerwenGreen [10:47 PM]: "Figured you'd say that," Ryan replies.
NerwenGreen [10:47 PM]: "Well, let's walk around the block if you want to stare at the buildings some more then."

AgujaCabra [10:52 PM]: There are a couple glances in your direction from the other members of the group, as the child's 'father' turns to look at you directly.. "Good evening... " He starts, seeming only slightly apprehensive.
AgujaCabra [10:53 PM]: The kid hold his dog out to you... "His name is Chomper, the other one is Puck"
NerwenGreen [10:53 PM]: "Ah, good evening." Thomas says to the father. Then he turns back to the child and gently asks, "Why are you holding the dog's mouth like that?"
NerwenGreen [10:53 PM]: and accepts the dog if the kid is handing it over
AgujaCabra [10:55 PM]: He pulls back a little if you try to take it, but will let you pet the dog. "... I was going to see if it could still breathe," he says, without a blink. . The boy's father frowns at him a little, telling him to "play nice with the dog.. "
AgujaCabra [10:56 PM]: The father is in his mid 40s, with slightly gristled dark brown hair, cut short above his ears. He has on a neat black business suit, and a rolex watch.
NerwenGreen [10:56 PM]: Okay I stop trying to take the dog and just pet it. "Well, that's not very nice to the dog," I say kindly. "But he has a nose, too, just like you. So he can still breathe with his mouth shut."
NerwenGreen [10:57 PM]: Ryan would be observing the father more than Thomas
NerwenGreen [10:57 PM]: Thomas is just talking to the kid
AgujaCabra [10:58 PM]: The kid smiles up at you, not saying anything for a moment... " Who are you, mister? " He asks, after a pause.
NerwenGreen [10:59 PM]: "My name is Thomas. What's your name?" I take a seat next to the kid, still petting the dogs.
AgujaCabra [11:00 PM]: "Welsh... Rylan Welsh Garnett." He says matter-of-factly, and looks up at the older man. "That's my pop-- he's the mayor of this city. I bet you've seen all his pictures."
AgujaCabra [11:00 PM]: [the kid probably looks about 7... he's not tiny]
NerwenGreen [11:01 PM]: I look up at the father and check to see if I recognize him from the pictures in City Hall.
AgujaCabra [11:02 PM]: If you were paying attention to the modern pictures, yeah.
NerwenGreen [11:02 PM]: "Ah. Yes, I saw some of his pictures in City Hall just now, Welsh."
AgujaCabra [11:03 PM]: The father clears his throat a bit, reaching down to take his son's hand.. "If you'll excuse us?" He looks first to you, and then to the other people he'd been conversing with.
NerwenGreen [11:03 PM]: Ryan leans back against the nearest wall and casually observes.
NerwenGreen [11:03 PM]: "Of course. Goodbye Welsh." I stand up
AgujaCabra [11:04 PM]: Welsh waves to you, picking up the leash for his dogs. "Bye Thomas!"
NerwenGreen [11:04 PM]: I smile and watch them go, then go over to Ryan.
AgujaCabra [11:05 PM]: [oh blimy... I forgot some stuff about that kid. He counted any buttons/fasteners that you had on]

NerwenGreen [11:08 PM]: His shoulder-length hair is loosely tied back, and if you look closely, you can make out some faint tan-colored fur (just a few) on the back of his neck, under the hair.

AgujaCabra [11:10 PM]: yay! Welsh was a thin, pasty little boy, slightly over four feet in height. He had a little bit of pale blonde hair, swept neatly over his head, and was wearing a thin red sweater with a pair of jeans. He has light blue eyes. You never saw the kid breathe, but it wasn't too obvious.

AgujaCabra [11:24 PM]: It's a large park, shaded by oaks and intermittent willow trees.. benches line a foot path, that weaves around the outside of the park, and around an occasional small fountain. A couple of joggers are making their way around the path, and there is someone sleeping on a bench as well.
AgujaCabra [11:25 PM]: at some point, there is no way you would not notice an extremely unusual looking man... but I'll pause till you get back with soup.

AgujaCabra [11:33 PM]: A short man, slightly under 5 ft 6 inches, is wandering along the path towards Thomas and Ryan.. his feet are bare, and he is wearing loose black clothing, with an intricate abstract design stitched in red embroidery. . The unusual thing about him is that he seems to be divided visually into two halves: the right half of his body is coal black, and actually has a shine like polished obsidian. The left side is a dark red, being traced with black lines that follow the anatomy of his body.

AgujaCabra [11:33 PM]: His hair hangs nearly to his ankles, with the right side being red with white roots, and the left black with white roots. His eyes are also half-and-half, each having a left white side, and a black right side

NerwenGreen [11:36 PM]: Ryan casually pulls a gadget out of his pocket and scans the man while continuing to converse with Thomas. Thomas checks to see if the man is breathing.
AgujaCabra [11:36 PM]: He seems to be conversing quietly with himself.
AgujaCabra [11:36 PM]: Oh, this man is not alive.
NerwenGreen [11:37 PM]: "That man is not breathing," Thomas says to Ryan, sotto voce. At the same time, Ryan says to Thomas, also sotto voce, "That man is not alive."
AgujaCabra [11:38 PM]: He's pausing to pick up a stray leaf, turning it over a few times in his hand... the palm is pierced with an inch-diameter hole that pierces the bone.
NerwenGreen [11:38 PM]: They both look at each other.
NerwenGreen [11:38 PM]: so there's a hole in his hand?
AgujaCabra [11:38 PM]: yes. sorry.
NerwenGreen [11:38 PM]: Thomas winces slightly when he sees that.
NerwenGreen [11:39 PM]: Ryan continues to scan the guy to see if he is composed of organic matter, or if there is any metal, plastic, whatever.
AgujaCabra [11:39 PM]: He is quietly singing something now, wandering back a little in the direction he came, then turning again... just sort of meandering in the road. [all organic... though there's been a little bit of change to the bone structure]

AgujaCabra [11:40 PM]: After a moment, the man wanders over to sit down beside a figure sleeping on a park bench.
NerwenGreen [11:40 PM]: Thomas and Ryan have both stopped walking a short distance from the man and are both looking at him. Ryan continues to scan for more details.
NerwenGreen [11:41 PM]: He's studying the bone structure.
NerwenGreen [11:41 PM]: He quietly relays the highlights to Thomas.
AgujaCabra [11:42 PM]: [the palm is a little elongated, and obviously missing a circular section... his ribcage is indented in six spots, and there is an extra piece of bone over his heart. that's it]
NerwenGreen [11:42 PM]: [okm]
NerwenGreen [11:43 PM]: Ryan also scans the sleeping figure on the bench.
AgujaCabra [11:44 PM]: The sleeping figure is human, and has normal bone structure.
NerwenGreen [11:45 PM]: After he's done scanning, Ryan quietly says to Thomas, "So ... umm. Shall we continue walking then?"
AgujaCabra [11:45 PM]: The man is looking at the two of you now, a slight, playful smile in his eye... not quite on his face yet.
NerwenGreen [11:45 PM]: Thomas takes that as a signal to begin moving forward again. He slowly, casually, starts to walk past the man.
NerwenGreen [11:46 PM]: Ryan follows suit.
NerwenGreen [11:46 PM]: They are both trying not to obviously stare at him.
NerwenGreen [11:46 PM]: But Thomas is moving slowly in case the guy looks like he is interested in conversation.
AgujaCabra [11:46 PM]: "What is the gadget for... ?" He questions, fairly innocently, as you pass by.
NerwenGreen [11:47 PM]: Ryan stops and grins. "It's my tricorder."
NerwenGreen [11:47 PM]: Thomas stops too.
AgujaCabra [11:48 PM]: The man draws his knee up on the bench, propping his elbow on the knee, and his chin on his hand... "What do you mean a tricorder? I don't know what it is you're talking about... "
AgujaCabra [11:48 PM]: "Is it a television prop? "
NerwenGreen [11:48 PM]: "Haven't you ever seen Star Trek?"
NerwenGreen [11:49 PM]: "Well no, this one actually works." Ryan says, "at least for me it does."
AgujaCabra [11:49 PM]: "No... with the pointed ear man?" He glances down at the sleeping figure.... "Oh dear, we're going to wake up my friend here if we keep talking on like this.. "
AgujaCabra [11:49 PM]: "Oh?"
NerwenGreen [11:50 PM]: Ryan grins some more. "Yeah. It says some interesting things about you."
NerwenGreen [11:50 PM]: Thomas adds
NerwenGreen [11:51 PM]: "Of course, you appear to be interesting without any tricorders, as well."
AgujaCabra [11:52 PM]: "Interesting, how? There isn't anything interesting about me... " He seems genuinely astounded that anyone would find him unusual or interesting, then cracks a friendly smile... "Oh, well, I thought I should decorate a little.... "
NerwenGreen [11:52 PM]: Thomas asks him, "Does that hole in your hand hurt?"
AgujaCabra [11:55 PM]: He lightly lifts the blanket covering the other figure's face, waving at them quietly, with just his fingers.. "When I had it done, yes, a little... but everything is healed nicely now... " Turning back to look at you, he puts one hand over an eye.. looking through the hole.
NerwenGreen [11:56 PM]: Thomas winces ever so slightly again.
NerwenGreen [11:56 PM]: He says, "Well. It is an interesting decoration scheme."
AgujaCabra [11:56 PM]: "Why are the two of you out so late... ? Such a naughty part of town as well... " He smiles a little.
AgujaCabra [11:57 PM]: Nodding a little at your comment.
NerwenGreen [11:57 PM]: "Is it?" Thomas glances around. "This seems to be rather nice park. I have never been here before."
NerwenGreen [11:57 PM]: Ryan starts glancing around too, slightly paranoid.

AgujaCabra [11:58 PM]: "Mm.. it is a nice park, but... " He puts a hand to his ear... and almost simultaneously, there is a shriek somewhere in the distance... "..... a naughty part of town"
NerwenGreen [11:59 PM]: Ryan jumps. They both look towards the shriek.
AgujaCabra [12:00 AM]: "Don't worry about that... It's probably just someone cleaning up after dinner... . It's a hard life, but ... there isn't anything to be done"
NerwenGreen [12:01 AM]: "So this park is often frequented by ... " Thomas stops, glancing at the sleeping figure.
AgujaCabra [12:02 AM]: The man pauses to look over the figure curiously again... "Oh yes... friends like this one are often here... they usually do not sleep very well... " He pats the sleeping figure on the head softly.
AgujaCabra [12:03 AM]: "I saw that this one would come here tonight... and that he would be a sound sleeper.... that is a very good thing.. "
NerwenGreen [12:03 AM]: Ryan looks askance at the man. "You saw that how?"
NerwenGreen [12:04 AM]: Thomas gazes at him too, asking "he is your friend?" which overlaps Ryan's question.
AgujaCabra [12:05 AM]: The man looks askance back, folding his hand together on his knee... " ... I knew that he would come here, needing a place to rest-- why would I not? I spend some time in the park, talking to my friends, and those who come in wandering... " He smiles a little at Thomas.. "Yes, of course he is my friend.. we have had wonderful conversation tonight"
NerwenGreen [12:07 AM]: Ryan and Thomas look at each other for a moment. Thomas looks back at the man and says "I am Thomas. What is your name?"
NerwenGreen [12:07 AM]: "Ryan," Ryan adds.
AgujaCabra [12:08 AM]: "Oh, yes... how nice, formalities" He begins to extend a hand, then seems to think better of it... "Chauncey ... I believe that is what most people know me as" He thinks a moment.. "or Drace. It's Chauncey Drace"
NerwenGreen [12:11 AM]: Thomas and Ryan both automatically begin to extend a hand too, but stop. Ryan puts his hand back in his pocket. Thomas clasps his hands behind his back.
NerwenGreen [12:11 AM]: "Nice to meet you, Chauncey Drace," Thomas says.
AgujaCabra [12:12 AM]: He laughs quietly at that, turning his head a bit to listen to the air again... "splendid, oh that's splendid... " he says, almost to himself.
NerwenGreen [12:12 AM]: "So is something interesting occuring within the park right at the moment?" Thomas inquires curiously.
AgujaCabra [12:14 AM]: "No.. no... I believe a shipment is coming in tonight, though... " Chauncey looks back your way, his eyes lighting up with child-like curiousity.. "Oh, I do hope it is something interesting this time.. "
NerwenGreen [12:14 AM]: "Shipment?"
AgujaCabra [12:15 AM]: "Yes, a shipment... one of ... " He pauses, "Oh, a shipment.... I don't think I should talk about that yet. . There will be a time, though... when I can tell you... "
AgujaCabra [12:15 AM]: ".... no no.... " He frowns a little.. " Then there wouldn't be any shipments at all.. "
NerwenGreen [12:15 AM]: Thomas raises an eyebrow at that. "When will that be?"
AgujaCabra [12:17 AM]: "I suppose when we haven't need for them anymore... won't that be lovely? ... " He looks up at you hopefully.
NerwenGreen [12:17 AM]: "I suppose that depends on what you need them for now." Thomas answers.
AgujaCabra [12:19 AM]: Chauncey bites the edge of his lip, growing serious for a moment.. "Once all of this... warfare is over with... we can stop having shipments. . "
NerwenGreen [12:19 AM]: "There is a war? Who is fighting whom?"
NerwenGreen [12:20 AM]: Ryan finds a tree to lean up against.
AgujaCabra [12:21 AM]: "... oh, you must know what I mean... it has been so still around here, we almost forget.... but ... there are still two sides to everything, two points of view that won't be reconciled.... I think they could... "
AgujaCabra [12:22 AM]: "I think... " He smiles, broadly.. "Well, I think I could get along with the other fellow... it wouldn't be all that much trouble... It's just table manners, afterall!"
NerwenGreen [12:23 AM]: Thomas smiles back, asking casually, "which side are you on now?"
AgujaCabra [12:25 AM]: "Oh. Well, the side that makes the most sense in all of it, of course... If there's any sense to be made, and I can't be sure if .. well, if there is a pattern in it all.... " Resting his chin on his hand again, looking up at the tree leaves pensively.. "... I think they'll realize soon enough that there is only one side... all of this will fall apart-- I shouldn't need to be tense speaking with you, should I? "
NerwenGreen [12:27 AM]: "I am of no importance in the grand scheme of things." Thomas replies after a slight pause. "I would be surprised if the two sides reconciled their differences, however."
AgujaCabra [12:29 AM]: "Why?" He tilts his head slightly, seeming genuinely interested.. ".. That is the response I always have, but I fail to see why.... It's all exactly the same, everywhere you choose to look-- the same cruelty, the same ... hungers... Surely there is a compromise."
AgujaCabra [12:30 AM]: He nods his head thoughtfully.. "mmm... yes, I see your point.. "
NerwenGreen [12:31 AM]: Thomas shrugs slightly. "I know little of the side I am not on. And this is only one city in a large world with both sides."
NerwenGreen [12:31 AM]: "More than two sides," he adds.
AgujaCabra [12:33 AM]: Narrowing his eyes at you slightly, he retorts this time with an edge to his voice.. although it's more of a snap, than real anger... "Yes well, we'll all see soon enough... I know it *could* be done, that's a given. "
NerwenGreen [12:34 AM]: Thomas raises an eyebrow and steps back slightly. "I take it, then, that you are important in the grand scheme of things."
AgujaCabra [12:35 AM]: "No, no.... I would not say that at -- Oh! Listen... " Chauncey puts a hand on the back of the bench, perking up a little, and turning around to look westward... "I think the shipment is coming in... "
AgujaCabra [12:36 AM]: Neither of you hear anything.
NerwenGreen [12:37 AM]: "May we watch?"
AgujaCabra [12:37 AM]: er... wait. maybe.
AgujaCabra [12:37 AM]: [ah. nevermind. I'll say no on the hearing... ]
NerwenGreen [12:37 AM]: [okay]
AgujaCabra [12:39 AM]: Turning back around, he rests his hands on his knee again.. "There isn't so much to see most of the time... hm.. Just unloading, sometimes loading... and all the packages come in, go out. . I think there was one tonight-- I can never be so sure.. "
AgujaCabra [12:39 AM]: [wow.. I'm slow... geez]
NerwenGreen [12:39 AM]: [no prob ;) ]
AgujaCabra [12:39 AM]: "... Are you one of Gracian's people, or one of ... well, one of our people... ? "
NerwenGreen [12:40 AM]: [aha]
NerwenGreen [12:40 AM]: A glint quickly passes in Thomas's eyes. "Does it matter?"
AgujaCabra [12:42 AM]: Looking down at his feet an instant, Chauncey seems to be thinking over something... muttering silently to himself, without responding to you immediately..
NerwenGreen [12:42 AM]: [bwahaha ;)]
AgujaCabra [12:43 AM]: "... Nevermind.. " He says, a trifle uncertainly.
NerwenGreen [12:47 AM]: Thomas smiles slightly. "Well. Perhaps we should be going so you may enjoy your shipments without us in the way."
AgujaCabra [12:49 AM]: Chauncey looks up suddenly, and then back towards the ground.. "The shipments don't really matter anymore.. I just had ... wanted something to think about.. " A pause... "Lovely meeting both of you. .. have a nice night."
NerwenGreen [12:50 AM]: [hmm]
NerwenGreen [12:53 AM]: "A pleasure meeting you too," Thomas says. He gives Chauncey a friendly smile, then starts moving away, continuing down the path they were taking before. After a moment Ryan stops leaning against the tree, sketches a slight bow at Chauncey, and follows Thomas.
AgujaCabra [12:54 AM]: He sits, perfectly still... staring at the ground until the two of you leave.
NerwenGreen [12:54 AM]: [hmm]
NerwenGreen [12:54 AM]: [for some reason I feel like I just won something, but I'm not sure what :p]
AgujaCabra [12:55 AM]: [ okay? ::laughs:: that's an interesting response.]
NerwenGreen [12:56 AM]: Thomas and Ryan continue through the park.
AgujaCabra [12:57 AM]: A thin man in grey clothing jogs past, not paying much attention. A couple other people are out as well.
NerwenGreen [12:58 AM]: Thomas is pretty much looking at everyone for breathing activity.
AgujaCabra [12:58 AM]: It's a nice park.. meant more for leisurely strolls than to bring the kids ;p
AgujaCabra [12:58 AM]: The man in grey clothes isn't huffing... but he gets by you pretty quickly.
NerwenGreen [12:59 AM]: ok
NerwenGreen [12:59 AM]: Thomas is mainly interested in just how many vampires there are in this park. ;)
NerwenGreen [12:59 AM]: Isn't it kind of late for so many people to be out and about?
AgujaCabra [12:59 AM]: right... well. the grey man wasn't breathing? that better? erf.. I'm not sure why he's jogging, either.
AgujaCabra [1:00 AM]: [it's only what.. around midnight maybe? There aren't a lot of people... just occasional]
NerwenGreen [1:00 AM]: okay
AgujaCabra [1:01 AM]: The grey man stops jogging, seeming to realize that he looks silly doing it, and begins to walk along at a normal pace, with his hands behind his back.
NerwenGreen [1:01 AM]: Ryan says uncertainly, "this park looks kind of spooky at night, now that Chauncey makes it out to sound like it's infested with bad creatures." He chuckles when he sees the grey man.
NerwenGreen [1:02 AM]: Then he adds, "what happened back there, anyway? Did you learn anything important?"
NerwenGreen [1:04 AM]: Thomas smiles slightly watching the man in grey clothing also, and says, cryptically, in a quiet voice, "I learned that Chauncey is not on the same side as I am."
NerwenGreen [1:05 AM]: "Ah, I see." Ryan replies, not looking like he understands in the least.
NerwenGreen [1:05 AM]: Thomas smiles again, then gestures at the grey man with his head. "What do you see when you scan that man?"
NerwenGreen [1:06 AM]: Ryan pulls out his scanner again and walks a bit faster to try and get within range.
AgujaCabra [1:07 AM]: [::sigh:: okay, no rolls... he's dead too. . and I don't know why I thought he looked silly jogging. He' s a fairly well-built, athletic young man]
NerwenGreen [1:07 AM]: [does that mean he starts jogging again? ;) ]
AgujaCabra [1:07 AM]: [no... he doesn't jog very often, and he's stopped.]
NerwenGreen [1:07 AM]: [okay]
NerwenGreen [1:08 AM]: Ryan says to Thomas, "He's not alive. This place really is filled with you guys, I guess."
AgujaCabra [1:09 AM]: The man turns, shooting a cold glance back towards the two of you... then turning to walk on, his hands folded behind his back still.
NerwenGreen [1:10 AM]: Ryan adds "Doh. I think he heard us."
NerwenGreen [1:11 AM]: Thomas says reflectively, "I certainly seem to be meeting more of my kind tonight than I have in the past decade."
AgujaCabra [1:11 AM]: [haha... because he has a storyteller now.. poor Thomas]
NerwenGreen [1:11 AM]: [hehehe]
NerwenGreen [1:12 AM]: "Yeah, well, that's why you should try setting foot inside the city more often" Ryan snickers.
AgujaCabra [1:13 AM]: A train rumbles past, perhaps three or four blocks over... the vibration does not reach, however, you can hear the whistle squeal faintly ... and the cars pick up speed.
NerwenGreen [1:13 AM]: Thomas grimaces slightly in Ryan's direction.
NerwenGreen [1:13 AM]: Then says, "I wonder if that train has anything to do with shipments."
NerwenGreen [1:14 AM]: [should I keep talking to myself? am I going to meet anyone else? ;) ]
NerwenGreen [1:14 AM]: [or will that be continued since it's past 1am? :p]
AgujaCabra [1:14 AM]: [erm... I can't in good conscience put any more vampires in the park..]
NerwenGreen [1:14 AM]: okay
NerwenGreen [1:15 AM]: I guess they go through the rest of the park without incident then
AgujaCabra [1:15 AM]: sure.
NerwenGreen [1:15 AM]: Where do they come out?
AgujaCabra [1:17 AM]: It would be near Clover... they can see some industrial construction to the west, and more appartment buildings and occasional cluster of trees to the east.
