The
Women's Zionist Organization of America
With more than 300,000 members, Hadassah is both the largest women's and the largest Zionist membership organization in the United States. Hadassah has chapters and groups in all 50 states and Puerto Rico. Its commitment to healing, teaching and research on the physical, spiritual and cultural levels is reflected in the cutting-edge medicine practiced at Hadassah Medical Organization (HMO) in Israel. Hadassah was founded in 1926 by Henrietta Szold.
Hadassah also has a strong international presence, with chapters established in more than 30 countries. A bridge to peace, Hadassah forges links among people of all religions, creeds and political beliefs.
Five main threads run through Hadassah programs and projects: health, Jewish growth and community, partnerships with Israel, social action and advocacy, and life skills.
Hadassah has launched an E-mail Action Network, an online counterpart to the Fax Action Network (with its slogan, "Just the Fax, Ma'am). By joining, you'll help to make Hadassah's public policy goals a reality. E-mail Action Network members will receive up-to-the minute public policy "Action Alerts" about issues of great concern to Hadassah. Receive an Action Alert, and you'll be asked to respond immediately by calling, writing, faxing or e-mailing your legislator, or by taking other appropriate action.
The E-mail Action Network means Hadassah can better respond to issues of concern to Israel and American Jewish Women, such as:
Foreign Aid
Separation of Church and State
The Middle East Peace Process
Domestic Violence
Genetic Nondiscrimination
Reproductive Rights
It will also help to enhance the ongoing grassroots advocacy already being conducted by our chapter.
