Raffles for Hadassah
This year we will continue to raffle off something at most afternoon and evening meetings. In order for this fundraiser to be successful, we need the support of you, our members. The next time you go to your favorite restaurant, beauty parlor, nail salon, or store, ask for a gift certificate or an item that can be raffled off at a meeting . The monies raised from these raffles, go toward the wonderful projects of Hadassah. If you obtain an item or gift certificate, bring it with you to your next meeting and give it to Margie Kopins, Lorraine Blumenfield, Tessi Tuniman, or Sandi Berger. With 500 members in this unit, how can we not be successful in this endeavor?
The 2006-2007 Annual Contribution campaign
We have had a very successful year thanks to the caring contributors who have generously donated a total of just over $26,000 to our Annual Contribution Campaign. From the kick-off (traditionally at the Membership Dinner in September) to its conclusion at the end of March, this year's campaign, in addition to the various Hadassah projects, focused on raising funds to support human embryonic stem cell research. How satisfying it is to be a part of something with such life-saving potential!
Even though this year's campaign has ended, we will be more than happy to receive additional donations. These will count toward next year's quota. Contributions can still be sent to Janna Walsh. All donations are greatly appreciated and always most welcome! Please note that all first-time contributors will receive a special gift.

Please bring your items to any meeting.
For more information, contact Marsha Freedman.

You will be helping Hadassah protect children at risk and
expanding cutting-edge medical research!
Whats the angle?
Were offering 100% interest on every dollar you donate THROUGH THIS PROJECT since your check will be matched by a special donor, up to $1000. Your $18 becomes $36...your $50 is matched to become $100. What a deal!
AND...consider this a special way to begin the New Year. Add your name to the list of Matching Fund Donors whose Major Gifts have been matched to enable us to send $6000 to our National Treasury. Celebrate a special event - birth of baby, graduation or anniversary, or recovery from an illness. Join with family members to memorialize a loved one who has passed away. Please contact Margie Kopins for details to begin this years fund as a Major Donor.
OUR BULLETIN NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT!
Everyone of our 500
members love to read our bulletin,
but did you ever think about how expensive it is to process
this masterpiece? It now costs $750 for each issue we mail.
The money we raise for Hadassah goes to Hadassah; therefore,
we need a special generous contribution from each of you
allocated specifically for the bulletin.
This is where you
come in. If each of you could send us a donation
of whatever you could spare, and then some, this certainly would
defray our costs. We suggest $18-$36-$54 or a spectacular $100,
or any amount you want to give to enable us to continue to print
our fantastic bulletin. Your name will appear each month as a
contributor.
Thank you so much for your participation.
Please do help us
and send your contribution, made payable to
Newtown Hadassah to Brenda Weiser or to Sheila Musicant.

Give a Youth Aliyah child a gift of a bar or bat mitzvah
A bar or bat mitzvah gift of $500 enables a student from Ramat Hadassah Szold in Israel and his/her family to participate in Hadassah's Joy of Judaism program. This program supports activities focusing on the traditions, culture and customs of Judaism. The program's motto, "...and you shall teach your children diligently," is taken directly from the Torah.
Your gift can be made in honor or in memory of a loved one, to celebrate a special occasion or to help teach tzedakah to a bar or bat mitzvah child in America by sharing a portion of their celebration gifts received from their family and friends.
This gift will provide individual bar or bat mitzvah lessons, traditional Judaic attire and an appropriate outfit for the occasion. It will enable a student from Ramat Hadassah Szold to celebrate with pride their bar or bat mitzvah with family and friends.
You will receive a beautiful inscribed certificate sutable for framing in grateful acknowledgment of your important gift. For more information, contact Joan Becker.
JNF Blue Box
The clink of those nickels, dimes and quarters as you empty your purse into your Blue Box is the sound of music to Hadassah, a supporter of the projeccts of JNF. If you place a dollar a week into your box, you'll have $52 collected toward your pledge. All JNF contributions made through Hadassah count toward our group's assigned quota, which is $42,500 this year.
To obtain a Blue Box, contact Sheila Musicant.
Join Legacy for the Generations
Include Hadassah in your will, and you will be honored during your lifetime with an elegant silver and enamel pin while setting an example of tzedakah for future generations.
Every click counts...
Newtown Hadassah is now a charity affiliate of The Jewish Exchange. What this means is that when you register on the site (it's free) and purchase items using Newtown Hadassah's code - NWTNH - The Jewish Exchange will donate 5% of your total purchase back to us. (Be sure to notify us at write2sell@comcast.net so that we can keep track of our members' and others' purchases.) That's right - spread the word, because anyone who enters our code earns money for Newtown Hadassah! You also can automatically add Newtown Hadassah to your selected charity list, and every time you make a purchase we'll benefit... and you won't have to re-enter our code each time. The Jewish Exchange features books, art, software and much more.
By banking with Firstrust Bank, Hadassah will receive cash bonuses through a program called Affinity Banking, a partnership between Firstrust Bank and Hadassah. If 10 or more members participate, Firstrust will make a donation, based on account type, for each new deposit account opened when Affinity Banking is mentioned at the opening of a new account.
Firstrust will continue to contribute, on an ongoing basis, for funds that remain on deposit through an annual percentage contribution. The ongoing annual contribution will be equal to 1% of the total interest earned for ALL accounts credited to Hadassah. This contribution is made by Firstrust Bank and does not affect any interest earned by you.
Additionally, there is a $25 customer bonus for direct deposit of payroll, pension or Social Security to a new Firstrust checking account. All individual account information and transactions are kept strictly confidential.
New Yahrzeit Payment
Plan
Who will say kaddish for your loved one? Hadassah
offers a perpetual yahrzeit
that includes a beautiful certificate for the family and the
annual recitation of the
kaddish in the name of your loved one in the chapel of Hadassah
Hospital, known
for its Chagall stained-glass windows. The man or woman for whom
kaddish is
recited does not need to be a Hadassah member.
A new payment plan for yahrzeit
orders is very simple. You can pay by check or credit
card: either $100 each month for 10 months, $250 quarterly for a
year, or $1000 in one
payment. Each deeducction serves as a donation, and the donor
receives a tax letter
each time a deduction is made.
Your purchase of a perpetual
yahrzeit in Israel counts as your annual contribution to
Hadassah for the year and also counts toward Newtown Hadassah's
assigned quota.
You can send your order form to Janna Walsh. For more information, contact Bea Tannenbaum.
