Save the date...

"Twenty Years and Proud" - Sunday, April 29th, 5-9 p.m. at Shir Ami - is Newtown Hadassah's time to celebrate the accomplishments of the past 20 years. We are proud of the hard-working women who helped our chapter grow into a special, caring and devoted group. We are very excited that we can honor each of the past presidents for their efforts.

The honoree for the 20th-year tribute journal is Estelle Goldfinger, who envisioned the afternoon group of Newtown Hadassah in September 1996. We urge all members to consider placing an ad in the tribute book. It can be a personal ad, naming each member of your family, or a business ad from a store that you frequent or own. The tribute book will honor the chapter presidents and leaders of Newtown Hadsassah. The success of this event depends on our members and the support of our community If you need more copies of the tribute book forms, please either make copies of the ones from the bulletin or contact me for extra forms.

Talented musician Kurt Maurer will entertain, and Food Designs, Inc. will delight you with a catered sit-down dinner. My co-chair, Bev Levy, is working on an interesting and informative program (and she promises that there will be no long speeches!).

We also will have exciting raffle baskets, thanks to the efforts of Harriet Schaeffer and her committee. If you have new items that you'd like to donate, please bring them to the meetings or contact Harriet. Arlene Goldman and Enid Waldman worked on the special invitation for this gala event.

We still need help on many committees, and we welcome more people to join us. If you'd like to volunteer, contact Bev Levy or me.

Let's come together for a fun evening with live music, dancing, great food and lots of excitement. We hope that everyone will support this special occasion and pay tribute to the women who helped Newtown Hadassah grow into a large, vibrant and successful organization.

Afternoon Programs

The topic of the Tuesday, April 17, 12:45 p.m. meeting/program will be "Exotic Jewish Communities around the World." Program Chair Gladys Schwartz will present a fascinating program. There will be a noon lunch for all the afternoon programs. Everyone has the option of either purchasing our buffet lunch for $5, bringing your own dairy lunch, or having lunch elsewhere and joining us for the meeting/program. If you would like to join us for lunch, please arrive at noon. Contact Andrea Schneiderman to make your lunch reservation. Important information regarding the reservations for lunch: Please note that in the future, if you have ordered the $5 lunch, and are unable to attend the meeting, you are still responsible for payment. We are still required to pay the catering restaurant for all of the food we order. We hope you understand.

Come and learn something new, or just share your concerns in a supportive setting.

Newtown Hadassah Walk-a-thon

Sunday, May 6th
Tyler State Park
Bring family & friends... sign up a team from your school or job...
It's a great community service or b'nai mitzvah project!

Please join us for our Annual Newtown Hadassah Walkathon. We look forward to walking with friends, family, Young Judaeans, b'nai mitzvah students, and our congregational communities to make this our most successful walkathon yet.

We need your support to help raise the much-needed funds to continue the essential work that Hadassah does. This year, in particular, as Hadassah continues on the front lines of stem cell research, let us walk together, b'yachad, to make a true difference in the lives of countless others around the globe.

The walkathon is not only a way of raising vital funds, but is also a way to raise community awareness of the "Bridge to Peace" that Hadassah truly exemplifies in the Middle East and throughout the world. We are having T-shirts made for the event, to be enjoyed long after the walk.

We look forward to a beautiful morning together, walking proudly, in support of a vital cause...please join us.
