A special award for a special lady!
Hadassah of Greater Philadelphia
will honor a member of all units on April 29th with the Myrtle
Wreath Volunteer Award. The criteria for the award is: a role
model, a motivator, reliability, and dedication to furthering the
cause of Hadassah in the United States and Israel.
The honoree from the Newtown Unit is Bea Tannenbaum. Bea graduated from Douglas College and Rutgers University as a chemist, and entered this newly opened field to women during World War II. Bea married, raised three children, and became a teacher of physical science.
Bea comes from a Hadassah family. Her mother was a life member and leader of her group, and her father was an associate. Bea started her "Hadassah" life in Cranford, N.J. After she retired from teaching, she moved to Florida, and became very active in Hadassah. She was president of Broward County and served as the Education Chair for that region.
Bea moved back north to Bucks County and became a part of the Newtown unit, where she met new "Hadassah sisters" of all ages. She was the leader of the afternoon group from 2002 to 2004. At present, she serves as Education Chair on the Executive Board.
Congratulations Bea, on an award well deserved!
