Not all dogs are created equal
Some are given a great shot at life and the chance to find love with the best owners possible.
Others are bred and brokered as commodities for the sole purpose of lining a pocket.
Some are bred with thought and consideration to form and function - better the breed. Others are bred just for the sake of profit.
Some come from carefully planned litters and from parents who have undergone careful health screenings. Others are bred haphazardly at best...
Some puppies are sold only to carefully screened homes. Others are sold to the first person whose cash is on the table...
Some are even brought in under the guise of rescue, when in actuality, the dogs are all smaller, often purebred, mass transported into a state and "adopted" out for hundreds
of dollars - and they are not expected to adhere to the same standards as even a pet shop is.
These are a newer trend called "rescue mills." These groups falsely inflate the homeless animal numbers in a region. This hurts others because if a rescue takes in 100 owner-surrender animals but brings in 500 throughout the same year in animals from other states, the data given is they rehomed 600 animals with no indication of the source of the dogs.
There are NO regulations covering how these imported for adoption dogs and cats are reported to any state agency at this time!

ONLINE PUPPY SALES ALERT FOR BREEDERS
There is a growing trend of websites designed to "help" breeders sell puppies online. Sadly, many of these sites will troll the internet, find sites of
breeders of all calibers (good to the lowest millers) and add the URLS without asking permission. This looks like breeders are supporting these sites/services when in actuality, many breeders do nott. If
you are a breeder and get an unsolicited email from one of these companies, DO NOT IGNORE IT!
See if you have been listed. Contact the company and demand to be removed. Then in a few days go and check! Also, consider posting a note visibly on your site stating your feelings regarding these "services." NPMV has found listings for some superb breeders on some of these sites over the years.
