ABOUT ME
BACK TO HOMEPAGE
I have been drawing as long as I can remember , mainly for my own entertainment. I majored in art and education at  George Peabody College. My focus was in oil painting and  I painted in oils for about fifteen years. For a challenge I changed to watercolor about seventeen years ago.  I also work in pastel and colored pencils. I have  attended workshops with Harold Miller, Paul Koen , Marsha Weinstein , Anita Capps, and Joe Miller. I paint at least four days a week and frequently paint in plein air. As a working artist my goal has been to attend a week workshop for the past five years. The more I learn ,I realize the more there is to learn. The picture on the left is at a watercolor workshop at Arrowmont Arts School taught by a University of Tennessee Art Professor. My style can be described as impressionistic realism. My love for nature and country scenes lead me to paint rural landscapes  to preserve our past. I also paint commissioned portraits. I have had one man shows at Cheekwood, The Vanderbilt University Club, and the Hendersonville Arts Council. Presently, my  paintings  are sponsored by several art galleries: Madison Art Center in Madison, TN ,the White House Art Gallery in Whitehouse, TN. and  the Canvas Room in Paducah, Ky. I am a member of the Monthaven Art Society and the Tennessee Art Guild.
