Body of Flesh
Some speak as though the dead in Christ are to be raised again in flesh, appearing to believe that the old natural body of flesh is again gathered into wholeness. This is not what the Bible teaches about the resurrection into a new body, an imperishable, glorified, and heavenly body, as described in 1 Cor 15:44 "If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body." Further described in 1 Cor 15:44 "... it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body."
Here is what the Bible says about these bodies in 1 Cor 15:40 "There are also the heavenly bodies and there are the earthly bodies; but the splendor of the heavenly body is one kind, and the splendor of the earthly bodies is another." The natural and spiritual body is explained to us this way in 1 Cor 15:42-44 "So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body."
All who are redeemed, whose name is found in the book of life, after death and when raised to be with the Lord are promised they will receive a new glorified body. Not the old body of flesh that is corruptible, but a new spiritual body that is incorruptible. In the first death of the old body or flesh body; the body created out of the dust of earth, in death this body returns to the dust of the earth. In the second death will be those unredeemed who when raised from the dead for judgment; being not found in the book of life, are then cast into and perish in the Burning Lake of Fire.
The Bible does describe a valley of a battleground where bones of the dead are found, saying these bones will be raised back to life, these concern a promise of the Lord in an event of prophecy yet to come. The Bible also describes dead who rose from their grave at the death of Christ on the cross, but no other mention is made. Perhaps most revealing of the new body, is scripture within the New Testament telling of experiences of people then (living), and these entertaining angles without awareness they are angels. This scripture may well be describing how the new spiritual body will appear, a new body for those found in the book of life, a new and eternal body.
At the time of judgment there will also be a second book opened, this will disclose the works of righteousness, these are works in the will and predestined for the purpose of God, works accomplished by each person within their own lifetime. This reward described in James 3:18 "Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness." In this we are reminded that those whose works are as twigs and straw will survive the proving by fire, but those whose works were as precious gold and metals will survive with reward of spiritual value in kind.
There are teachings in the Bible not fully understood, one of these is the Son's of God who mated with the women on earth and produced giants, giants being another word with different acceptance. There are also many text used in study that are not those within the Bible. However as we are commanded, what is taught from this text outside the Bible should be verified by Gods inspired word in the Bible.
The Bible tells us we will live by (every) word of God, yet we are also told to verify every spirit by the word of God that is the Bible. I strongly believe that for the spiritual man, receiving Gods inspired word will also be Spiritually discerned by the searching God. No man of flesh may alter the Word of God that reaches the beseeching heart of a faithful servant.
