PINE ISLAND – THE NORTH END

 

 

 

Monday, January 19, 2009  - 18 mile ride.

 

Bicycle excursion to the northern tip of Pine Island – the quaint village of Bokeelia.  Pace will be approximately 10-12 mph.  Lunch is at Capt’ Con’s fish house.  Lunch is scheduled for 11:15.

 

On the way to lunch we will stop at Crossed Palms gallery.  The gallery is our stop just before reaching Capt’ Cons.

 

Be ready to ride at 10:00 sharp.  Travel time to Pine Island approximately 1 hour 15 minutes.

 

After lunch you may bicycle back on the same path or join us for the continuation of our ride south along Pine Island Sound, residential areas, Tarpon Lodge and back to the start point.  The entire trip is approximately 18 miles.

 

The trip is mostly bike paths and country roads. 

 

Biking time is 10:00 sharp.  Please arrive early and be ready to ride at 10:00.

 

Directions to Pine Island:   

Summerlin Road to Colonial Avenue – Left on Colonial.

Cross the Mid-point bridge (Colonial becomes Veterans Parkway).

Veterans Parkway to Pine Island Road – Left on Pine Island Road (State route 78).

Drive through Matlacha to Pine Island.
