Here's a way to SAVE MONEY at the Supermarket on produce that
already has |
|
Save money when you dip out a salad at Self-Serve Counter at the Supermarket by putting the MOST EXPENSIVE ITEMS on your plate. If you want to purchase some less expensive items, buy them by the pound at the Deli Counter where the price will be less. |
| FREE WASTE BASKET LINERS -- You can use the plastic grocery bags from the Supermarket to place in your wastebaskets. Maybe the kids forget and throw fruit skins in the waste baskets...or a sticky lollipop. Some wastebaskets are even made with this in mind. There are little plastic loops on each side near the top. Simply attach the plastic grocery bag handles to the loops. A good way to recycle! |
| Does your top flat bed sheet come undone at the bottom when you toss and turn as you sleep? If you know how to sew, you can make your top flat sheet into a fitted sheet at the bottom only. This can be done very easily by first making the bed by putting the sheet on the bed inside out. Then use safety pins to hold a seam straight down on the two bottom corners. Sew this straight seam from the corner down to the bottom. You may want to use large basting stitches to test it ... not too loose -- not too tight. Now your tootsies will stay covered even though you toss and turn as you sleep. No need for elastic or complex sewing -- just a simple straight seam on each bottom corner only. Turn the sheet to the right side and test it by sleeping with it. Then if you prefer for it to be tighter, well help yourself by making the seams a little deeper. When it is perfectly comfortable to your way of thinking, sew with tighter stitches. Oh, what a blessing it is to know how to sew! | ||||||||
| Prevent losing your wallet or credit card holder even if they happen to drop right out of your pocketbook. First punch a hole with a paper punch or hammer a nail through a corner of your wallet or credit card holder. Then put a thin piece of elastic or ribbon through the hole into a loop and sew the two loose ends onto the lining of your pocketbook. One day, my wallet fell out of my pocket book and I felt it bouncing against my upper thigh. It never even hit the floor. Great for keeping your wallet and credit card holder safer. | ||||||||

If Grandma or Grandpa worries about dropping their cane and not being
able to reach all the way down to pick it up.....well, here's a way to
prevent the cane from dropping to the floor in the first place. First
sew a piece of elastic about 3/8" wide into a circle to fit snuggly around
the top of the cane. I used embroidery thread and sewed it "by hand".
Then sew another ring of elastic through the first circle into another loop
that fits around the wrist of the cane holder. Custom fit it by having
the cane holder test it. It gives an additional sense of security to a
person who has a problem getting all the way down to retrieve a dropped
cane. Attach a large cup hook onto the door frame to hang Grandma or Grandpa's cane. So handy and organized. |

| A good way to keep your broom in place is to screw a large cup hook into the very top of the handle. First drill a small hole to match the size of the cup hook. Screw the cup hook right into the very top of the handle. Now hang the broom on a hook from a country coat hanger or attach another cup hook onto a wooden door frame. | ||||||||
| Insert a cup hook to hold your flash light too. | ||||||||
