The siren call of the Scion
Hello to our most recent family addition (uh, photo clearly ganked from Edmunds.com):
It's cute! It's round! Yup, we're getting a new Scion xA (Little x, big A. Why? I have no idea.) It is a neato car that gets crazy good gas mileage and has a huge amount of space in it. It's also rated pretty darn well in safety, and has built in satellite radio w/ iPod jack. Woo for technology!
The stork hasn't quite arrived, but we put in our order at the dealership this past weekend. We're going to have the plates from the Saturn transferred over, so I'd better get thinking about what the SNV in the plate number will stand for. It stood for "Super Nasty Vehicle" on the Saturn (Thanks to the lovely Jenny Haney!) but I think maybe something different is in order for our little Scion pal...
Any suggestions? Silly Nihilistic Vehicle? Swell Narcotic Vortex? No?

Congrats on the xA. Almost impossible to find one with a manual trans (about 25% of those made) and in a particular color (I like the ever-so-exotic white). After understanding the order and allocation setup (from a post on scionlife.com), I contacted all the dealers within a 50 mile radius and found "my car". It arrived ashore yesterday, and I should be driving it home this weekend.

We're also trying to find a manual version, and it's proving to be annoyingly hard.
I think your idea of canvasing all vaguely nearby dealers is a good one.

Fortunately, the dealer that had "my car" coming in is only 16 miles from my house. :)
My suggestion for SVN: Semper volo nobis - Latin (I hope) for "Always moves (quickly) us" - a play on the Scion ad campaign, "What moves you?". :)

P.S.
That might be "semper volatilis nobis". The root "volo" means "to fly" but can also mean "move quickly". I didn't even take Latin in high school, so take what I say with a pound of salt. ;)
