Greetings
from Hugh Schoelzel
Hello TWA employees, friends, fans and
enthusiasts,
Mark your calendars for
Saturday, September 25th, when we will gather at Old Rhinebeck
Aerodrome in New York's Hudson Valley for a day of fun, camaraderie and
reminiscing. Many of you have requested we do this again,
since it has
been three years since our last gathering. If you have
attended before, you
know what an uplifting day you will have. If this will be
your first
time at this event, you can expect to see hundreds of your
friends, each of
whom will start a new round of story telling. Be aware that
most will
have aged more than you!
Realizing your significant other may not share the
same excitement as you, the Aerodrome has several museum buildings,
food, gift shop, and a one-of-a-kind air show in the
afternoon. Featured is the world's largest collection of
regularly flown pioneer
and WW-I airplanes, including the oldest flying plane in the United
States,
plus rides in a 1929 New Standard biplane. The sights, sounds
and
smells of a bygone era set the perfect stage for reflecting on
our rich TWA history. After the show, volunteers among you
will set up
a wonderful array of hors d'oeuvres and TWA paraphernalia that
will make your day a memorable one.
Special thanks to Capt. Jim McElroy, F/A Mary
O'Neill, and all the volunteers who work so hard to ensure you have a
great time.
BE THERE, we all want to see you again! BE THERE, I know where you live.
Hugh
Schoelzel

This
event
is open to all all TWA & AA employee groups and
enthusiasts. Since it is put on
entirely by volunteers, you are encouraged to offer your
skills to Capt.
Jim McElroy, the event coordinator.
Be
sure
to wear your TWA gear, which will get you the group admission rate to
the Aerodrome. If this is your first visit, most people start
arriving
at 10:00 and sign up for a biplane ride, tour the museum, and socialize
with friends. There is an airshow from
2:00-4:00, with reunion events following.
The
rain
date will be Sunday, September 26th. If you are in doubt
about the
weather, call Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome at 845-752-3200.

Latest Accomodations Info 7/21/2010
Hotel reservations seem to be
getting rather tight for that weekend, although there should
be rooms available across the bridge in Kingston. Lots of
leaf peepers out on the fall weekends.
Some
guests
may wish to expand their visit to Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome
to include
sight-seeing
and touring of the local historic area.
There are
also numerous attractions and B&Bs
in neaby Red Hook, Staatsburgh, Hyde Park
about
:15 minutes away, across the river in Kingston, about :20 minutes away, and
other nearby historic villages.
We
should note that some B&Bs
require a two-night stay on weekends. No qualifications or
warranties are implied. See TripAdvisor or another
rating
service for further information on accommodations.
