Flight List

Valid flight

In order for a flight to be considered for scoring in one of the three competition categories, it must meet the following criteria:

  1. Launch from one of the two official Tiger launches

  2. Include at least one tag other than launch and/or landing out from the Tiger LZ.

  3. Not violate the Terminal Controlled Airspace (TCA) in our area (see Waypoints)

  4. Not fly in clouds

  5. GPS track submitted by the end of the 7th day beginning on the day after the flight (see Submitting a track log).  Only one track log per day will be accepted for scoring.

Scoring

  •  Flight score = base score + unique waypoints x 3 + furthest waypoint tagged + LZ bonus

    • Base score: Your base score for a flight is the total ground miles measured from tagged waypoint to tagged waypoint to landing.  If you don’t tag any waypoints, your score is equal to the distance in miles from Tiger launch to where you landed.  If you don't tag any waypoints and land at the Tiger LZ, the flight is not valid and won't be scored.

      •  Laps between waypoints. You can tag the same way point as many times as you want.  However, you have to tag two other points before coming back to a point previously tagged and you won't receive a "unique tagged waypoints" bonus for subsequent tags.

    •  Unique Waypoints Tagged X 3 For each unique waypoint tagged you receive 3 points.

    • Furthest Waypoint Tagged This score encourages pilots to go as far as possible away from Tiger to tag points and is measured in miles from the launch to the furthest point tagged.

    • Tiger LZ Bonus The official LZ is a .1 mi. radius cylinder around the normal Tiger LZ.  To separate laps from further out and back flights, the LZ bonus is equal to the furthest tagged waypoint and is only awarded if the pilot lands within the official LZ.

Categories

  •  High-Point  Your top 5 scoring flights are totaled.  The person with the highest score is the champion.

Official Tiger launches

The two official launches are Tiger north and Tiger south

Tag

A tag is considered valid when a track point is recorded within a .25mi cylinder around the waypoint.
