Software

I have listed the preferred software in priority order for communicating with your GPS (i.e. uploading track logs, waypoints, etc.)  All software listed below, with the exception of EasyGPS, costs money.  Although EasyGPS is free, you can only download waypoints and not upload your track log files!

  1. Garmin MapSource v6.1
  2. Garmin MapSource (any version)
  3. EasyGPS or ExpertGPS by
  4. National Geographic TOPO

Official waypoint files

This is what I have.  If you don't see a file that is compatible with your software, email me and we can work it out.

Note: if you have trouble opening these files, right-click on the link to the file you want to open and choose Save Target As... from the context menu.  This action will save the waypoint file to your local machine.

Waypoint naming convention (airspace indicators)

Airspace is a BIG DEAL around Tiger.  We have too much to lose if we don't adhere to the Terminal Controlled Airspace (TCA) around Tiger.  Each waypoint has a number in the name. This number represents the ceiling of the airspace that the waypoint is in (i.e. don't go higher than).

Example: the Cumberland waypoint (CMBRLND-8K) is in the airspace where you can go up to 8000ft. before getting into Terminal Controlled Airspace (TCA). This naming convention should help you see the changes in airspace as you fly.
