A note about the SPAD Forum.

If after reading these pages, you still have questions, then slip over to the Simple Plastic Airplane Design forum hosted by RCAA or the SPADWORLD.net ( the newest SPAD forum) forum hosted by R/CHawaii.

You'll find a search function in the upper right-hand corner of the screen at the SPAD Forum.  There are well over 50,000 posts in these two forums alone to search!  This is an invaluable source of information.  Please use it.  That's what it's there for.  If you still need help, then post a message and sit back.  Someone there will be glad to help you out!.

The new forum at SPADWORLD.net now has a chat feature.  Yet another tool for you to get answers to your question quickly and easily or a place to socialize with fellow SPADers like yourself.

Posting a Picture on the SPAD Forum:

The next step is to show the world that new plane that you just finished building and decorating with lots of cool stickers.  In order to this, you must first upload your picture the internet.

There are many places that you can upload your plane pictures to.  Probably the best, and often the easiest, is through your own Internet Service Provider.  Virtually every ISP offers some web space to their customers.  However, how to actually go about uploading files to you particular ISP will differ.  But alas, there is help available.

The first and best place to go to get help uploading files to you web space is to contact your ISP customer service.  They will have a step-by-step instruction on how to get you started uploading files to your web space.  And then there is always the Forum.  There is a separate forum for questions like these, Computer Bytes.  Chance are that if you have talked to your ISP and they have some how manage to confuse you, there will be someone available to help clear things up.

Now that you have your files on the internet, you have to show them to the SPAD community.  To do this, you will need the URL of the file that you just uploaded to you web space.

Say for instance that your ISP's name is "myisp", your internet (not your forum) username is jsmithe, and the name of the picture you just uploaded is call "my_first_SPAD.gif".  Then the URL might look something like this:

URL --->>>  http://www.myisp.com/~jsmithe/my_first_SPAD.gif

If you type the URL into the address bar of your browser and you see your picture of your new plane, then you done it right.  Now it's time to post it and show everyone else your new creation.  If you can't see the picture in your browser, then posting it to the forum will not work as well.

All you have to do to post the picture to the forum is to enclose the URL in special "tags" inside your post.  The tags are image tags that tell the forum how to handle the picture.  The format is simply thus [img]URL[/img], and it will look similar to this:

[img]http://www.myisp.com/~jsmithe/my_first_SPAD.gif[/img].

We ask that you not post large files to the forum.  Consideration needs to be taken for those on slow internet connection.  A good size for a forum picture would be in the 400x300 pixel range.  Now go post those pictures and show the world.

A warm and heartfelt thank you goes out to NoseFirst for providing web space for the SPAD community to upload pictures to.  Sorry to say that this service is no longer available but the service that nosefirst provided will always be appreciated by those of us who used it.
