Search this forum for "actuation" and you will get tons of material.

In short, the number of photos is captured in the EXIF area of the file in every digital image. Just get the any EXIF Reader to read that data and you will be golden.

   Hi There,

What is EXIF???? Sorry if this is a stupid question. Actually I'm a Doctor and not well versed with all the terminology.

And can i get all the info about all the photos ever clicked by my d70.

Thanx once again.

You don't have to count the number of photos. Opanda (I am assuming you are using Opanda IExif) will gracefully do that for you as D70 actually records that information in the picture file itself. Look for the label Total Number of Shutter Releases for Camera. The number against this label is the number of times your camera shutter operated at the time of taking this picture. Isn't that great and computer fun ?

   Manu,

Yes, there is a great deal of Exif information.
Some of it is not important and some of it is redundant.
Here is a screen shot where I left only the more important lines:

I marked in green the items that people usually use when they are posting a picture.
For example, Nikon D70 18-70mm @70mm f/4.6 1/40s ISO 200
(No need to say 0EV exposure compensation and no flash)

I marked in blue some other items of interest.
You already discovered 'Total Number of Shutter Releases for Camera'.

Hi Bill - Thanks for the link. The download does not work, however, as there are some problems with their site and I have not been able to get it to work. Would it be possible to email the application to me? I can send you an email so you will have my email address. Please let me know.

Thanks.

I'd recommend against emailing applications to one another.
It is an unsafe practice for starters, and also does not sit well with our terms of use:

Where we agree not to "Upload, email, post or otherwise make available any content that infringes any patent, trademark, copyright or other proprietary rights of any party."
I just checked the site-- and had no problem with the download of the trial version -- May I suggest you give it a bit of time and try again?
