21/42Abandoned warehouse

You are in an enormous warehouse. It looks as if it has been abandoned for at least a year, maybe more. Papers are strewn across the floor. There are numerous mysterious boxes piled so high as to actually reach the warehouse ceiling. The windows are covered with spiderwebs, and there is a thick layer of dust covering pretty much everything.

> examine the boxes

Most of them look like standard packing boxes. There are no markings on them that give any hint as to their contents. You dare not touch them in fear that they are the only thing supporting the building.

> examine the floor

You notice footprints in the dust leading behind a row of boxes. On the floor behind the boxes, you can make out the silhouette of another person.

> examine the silhouette

You maneuver through the maze of boxes towards the shadow and find yourself face to face with a teenage boy.

"Oh, hi," he says. "I didn't realize anyone else was in here."

> wait

"I guess I should introduce myself," he says. "I'm Andrew, the owner of this warehouse.

> ask about the warehouse

"What happened to this place?" you ask.

"Oh, I used to have a bunch of stuff here, but one day, while I was out exploring, I found an wide open and unused space. I decided to build a new warehouse, which I did. I had a lot of fun in my new warehouse playing with things that I didn't have access to in this one. Meanwhile, this place fell into disrepair. I came back a couple times with some new boxes, but they didn't really fit anywhere."

"So why come back now?"

"Well, my new warehouse was really hard to get to, and as cool as it was, I couldn't share the stuff I'd built in it with other people. I had a couple of friends who would stop by now and again, but they kept getting lost on the way!"

He falls silent, presumably remembering the good times he'd had at his hidden warehouse.

> ask about the boxes

"So, what's in all these boxes?" you ask.

"They're a bunch of ideas I've had over the years. You probably wouldn't be able to understand any of them. Hey, but feel free to stick around if you want to. If you're looking for the old stuff I had in here, a lot of it has been been moved down into the basement. I'm working on moving all the stuff in my new warehouse into this one. Everything I've brought so far is piled up over to the west there."

He points towards something that looks like a giant top hat.

"Thanks!"

"No problem. Just be careful in the basement. There could be some caved in passages down there."
