Current donations

Folks - you're incredible. I just want you to know that I never expected such a great response, and I'm very moved and very encouraged by the help you're so ready to give to a family from the hurricane zone!

Here is the current list of available resources YOU have offered as of today (loaned items and donations):

A washer and dryer
A queen bed
Bunk beds
A student desk
Multiple sofas!
Multiple dressers!
A coffee table
A dining table with 6 chairs
Dishes, glasses
A toaster
Towels, bedding, shower curtains, a bath mat
Clothing
A radio
A lamp
TV, VCR
Some baby items
Some meals, grocery store gift certificates, utility bill help
Possible job-finding assistance
And some folks just said "Let us know what you need, and we'll get it!"

Dave and I are providing the following for 3-6 months:

1700 sq. ft of living space, with 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms
Use of appliances: refrigerator, freezer, range/oven, microwave, dishwasher
1 queen bed, 1 full futon, 1 twin bed, and a portable crib
Some linens for beds
Limited pots and pans, utensils (forks, knives, spoons)
Table w/4 chairs
3 extra folding chairs
2 bookshelves
1 dresser
2 end tables
2 phones
Children's toys
A trunk
Hangers for clothes

Student Movers, Inc. has offered us help in picking up and moving furniture and household items for the family! In combination with several folks that have offered to help with lifting, picking up items should be smooth - many hands make light work!

Once we have a family that wants to come to Colorado, we'll coordinate the pickup of items. We don't want to pick up any donations until we know they'll be used by a family that needs them.

Any volunteers to help set up house?
