Synopsis In the opening scene the world is gathering for the stellar event of the millennia--a meteor that will  change the face of the moon.  When things go totally wrong, Earth is forced to pass through a field of debris that pounds the world back to the stone age

With the world growing cold in a nuclear winter, a small caravan of survivors along the Arizona-New Mexico border set out in hopes of reaching a presidential fall out bunker that is alleged to be almost empty and waiting for survivors.

As if the end of civilization isn't enough, the convoy is pursued by a band of escaped convicts intent on learning the location of the secret bunker.  Fraught with internal strife, the band of survivors learns they have to set aside their differences or face certain death.

Review: I was given an advanced copy of this book by a friend of a friend.  Although this is Adam Celaya's first novel, he is clearly well on his way.  The book was fantastic, not what I had expected at all.  I actually found myself concerned for the safety of the characters and had a hard time putting down the book long enough to take a shower.  Buy it, read it, give it to a friend.

Recommendation: Buy it, read it, give it to a friend. I really, truly liked this book and would not hesitate to recommend it.

Synopsis:  When a flight carrying a hundred passengers, two federal agents, and a terrorist defector lands with all onboard dead, Agent John Corey and Kate Mayfield find themselves trying to track down a determined and capable terrorist known only as the Lion.

Trying to put the pieces together, they try to understand how the victims are linked.  With their secret buried deep in government secrecy, they have an uphill battle as they painstakingly close in on their quarry as he leaves a trail of corpses behind.

Review: Nelson DeMille is a solid writer with dozens of novels to his credit.  This book is no dissapointment.  The action is well written, and he has taken his time to thoroughally research his topic.  The only part I took issue with was that the killer is able to use a plastic bottle as a silencer on his Glock.  having tried this a few times I know that the first shot throws the bottle downrange (if you don't shoot off your fingers doing it.)  Otherwise it was technically accurate.

Recommendation: Despite this one technical flaw, I rate this book high.  It is worth the read.
