Genre: Political/military thriller

I love doing reviews on Tom Clancy books.  Why?  Because they are so friggin easy!  His latest novel in the Jack Ryan series of books is no exception.

Although Jack Ryan has faded to the background and Teeth of the Tiger is more about his son (who is taking over as the star) this is an outstanding book that keeps the reader riveted right up until the very end.  Clancy's storyline and character development are second to none and pull even the most jaded reader into a world of espionage, terror, and politics gone wrong.  All I can say is read the damn book!  You will be glad you did.

The plotline of the story is pretty straight forward. Jack Junior, against his parent's wishes, has joined the intelligence community.  Like his father he inadvertently goes from analyst to field spook as America fights terrorism.  Along the way we meet a band of terrorists plotting to make an unthinkable strike against the very heartland of America.  Compelling, well written, and with characters so well developed you feel like you actually know them, Clancy has done it again and written a hit.

Genre: Post apocalyptic

Apocalypse Warrior (AW) is the first novel by David Spear, a fledgling writer from southwestern Arizona.  Published earlier this year, AW is a worthy effort that draws the reader into a well-spun world of post apocalyptic America.  This gritty, hard-bitten story does a commendable job of drawing the reader into a believable world of anarchy and survival.

Apocalypse Warrior takes place about a two hundred years after nuclear war obliterates much of the planet and the descendants of  the original survivors have long since emerged from their bunkers to rebuild their world. Taking place in the Arizona wilderness, this is a fast moving and insightful told in a first person historical perspective.  Taking you from the narrator's earliest days as a rookie soldier, through years of struggle to unite surviving factions throughout the remnants of Arizona.  If you enjoy End-of-World stories then this is a must read.  The author has indicated that he intends to write at least two more sequels making this the first of a trilogy.
