Project Fatboy - Aug/Sep 2006

Parts laid out.

Engine mount time.

We think Dominick is addicted to model rockets too!

Step 7. Stick round piece in mouth. Look dumb...

Professor Dominick &  Aaron!!!

Still love the purple super glue!!!

So much for laser cut fins. This was the most difficult time I have had removing the flash from the fins. There were several lines that were not cut at all. One of the fins actually developed a small crack that I think will be fine after sand sealing.

Ye old marking wall!! What me worry?

Down the tube!!!

I used a ruler to push the engine mount into position between the fin slots.

Of course the slots had to be widened in order for the fins to go in. Not too difficult but scary with the Xacto knife.

Fin fillets!

I almost forgot the launch lug!!!

Staging area next to big brother Executioner.

Primer coats. Dominick standing guard.

On goes the red. The paint scheme will be red body and silver fins. I hope this works well with the decals....

Ready for silver fins!!! And go silver fins!!

Looks like the tape held back the silver!!! :)

Time to name the rocket!

FATBOY!!! Wow the white lettering shows up better in the pictures than in real life. It has more of a transparent look in reality.

Dominick helping again...

Only problem was with the T. It seemed a bit long so I trimmed it a bit.

Chute in. YEAH!!!!

Glamour shots!

This was a great project and a neat rocket. Can't wait to launch it!!
