5

Kady turned 5 today. She's such a bundle of happy, goofy, artistic child that it is almost unbearable. She's had a good run at being 4. Preschool, ice skating, Disney, art, ballet, swimming, losing her 1st tooth, being the lone big sister during the weekdays... it's been busy. We've had our downs as well - potty problems, sassing, monsters in the closet, sleep stalling at bedtime.
Here's to a great year being 5!

Pre-holiday Whirlwind

Well, it's been crazy around here lately. Elora just celebrated her 2nd birthday, Abby had her first piano recital, we had our multi-generation Christmas musical, we learned that Elora does NOT like Santa, Kady noticed her first loose tooth, and Abby had her investiture into Brownies. And that was just this weekend!

Here are some images from the weekend.

Halloween 2008

Happy Halloween!!! We've had an exciting and fun filled day and hope you have too! I do have to report that last Saturday, Elora refused to wear her costume. In the ensuing discussion, when I refered to her as a unicorn, Abby informed me that "unicorns don't have wings mom. Pegasis do." I'm not certain if pegasis have horns though so we called her our little hybrid.

Cheesy Girl

So Elora is talking up a storm. She likes to say: sim(swim), 1, 2, jump, shoes, socks, cuppie (cup), bankie (blanket), seep (sleep), mine, tatoo (thank you), gum (welcome), hi, bye, boo, up, wahk (walk), watch, sow-wer (shower), ahsh (wash), down, outside, Abby, Key (Kady), daddy, mommy, lunch, dink (drink), skirt, on, and cheese.

The last one she usually says just before she makes a cute face and wants me to take her photo. Last night she put on a pioneer hat and repeatedly said "cheese." The photos are the outcome! Too cute.

Ballerina Girl

Today was Kady's first day of ballet lessons (as she calls it). She has been looking forward to this for years. So after swimming lessons today, we got all dressed up and went for ballet. She loved it. Ms. Molly, her teacher, remembered us from when Abby had lessons. Kady's only disappointment was that they didn't dance "Under the Sea" like Abby's group did (at her recital!).

Preschool 2

Kady had her meet and greet last Tuesday for preschool. Her teacher is Mrs. Tempestini. She is in the same class as her good friend Aiden (who proposed to her this summer... with flowers & a ring!). She has an even number of boys and girls. Friday was her first day and she ran right into the room barely stopping to say goodbye!

When I picked her up, she said that her favorite thing to do is to play with playdoh.

Grade 2

Unbelievable. Abby is old enough to be in 2nd grade! Yikes... time flies. That said, I am more than happy that she is back in school. Keeping an active 7 year old busy all summer while juggling naps and quiet time has been a challenge. She wanted to be working on a project or playing at all times. While she did a lot of reading, she didn't want to do it during quiet time.

Anyway, here she is on her first day of school. She only knew a few other girls in the class but was happy to catch up with her best friend Katie. She got reacquainted with a friend named Kaylen from Kindergarten who is in her class this year. They had a little ceremony for the first day - saying the pledge, singing the school song. Then off they went!

The last photo was taken last night at the school open house. She was showing off her new desk! Front & center!!!

This Week In Review

If you haven't already done so, check out my other blog to see how we've been celebrating the Olympics.

Abby found out that her teacher for 2nd grade is Ms. Damkevala (Dahm-kah-vahl-ah). We met her and she seems very nice. Kady's teacher for preschool is Mrs. Tempestini. We get to meet her in about a week and a half.

I've also included some pictures of Elora playing outside this evening. She was coloring with chalk and then riding on the little Power Wheels 4-wheeler.

Kady has also been dressing the dogs in doll clothes and random stuff this week. There is a picture of Trouble all dolled up. And then some of Kady all dolled up.

I'll have more photos next week - 1st day of school, etc.

A Naperville Day

Here are some pictures from our journey today. We went to go visit the Naperville Carillon. Their website said that the visitor center was open on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Guess what? They're not open on Wednesdays!!! Anyway, we decided to cruise the Riverwalk and then do some shopping. It was a good day to be outside!

A Little Dirt Don't Hurt

Elora had a great time tonight while I was weeding. She found one of the peat pots that I had planted earlier this summer and decided to peel it back and eat the dirt inside. Once that was done, she used the extra dirt to decorate her body. She played quite a bit outside, trying to turn the crank to set up the camper, playing queen of the play house. It was fun and not too bad to clean up!
