What Dogs Have to Say About ABC

Auggie Doggie

 From Auggie to ABC:

"I really, really, really love going to A Better Companion (ABC).  I generally come once or twice a week and on those mornings when I see Mom packing my lunch I know exactly where I am going.  I so look forward to seeing all my dog and human friends there.  I haven't meet a one that I don't like. I get so excited that I can hardly wait while Mom puts on my leash and Dad gets the car out. Then I sit up front and even though I am only a year old I know the way from my house to ABC. When we get there I literally pull my Dad to the door so I can start my busy and fun day!  Mom and Dad realy like ABC too as they say it helps to wear me out, whatever that means, and helps me to sleep at night.  Being a Jack Russell puppy I have enough energy for both ABC, Mom and Dad and anyone who wants to come to A Better Companion to play.

Jake Berry

Hi Jake 007 here,
You can't tell anyone I said this but I was sent to spy on Robyn and Greg for the dog police (dog5).  They are push overs.  It started out when we got them to come see me and my brothers. They were supposed to fall under my spell and did very quickly and they decided to take me home that day.  As they took me away I winked to my brothers to let them know I had my "marks".  Things have gone pretty well for me here in Saugus and I am able to keep an eye on them most of the time.  They take me along to Home Depot and Lowe's and all sorts of other places.   I just give them the "puppy dog look" and I have them eating out of my hands, actually the other way around.  Robyn feeds me kibble every night out of her hand as we watch TV.  Ha!  I have her wrapped around my little paw.  A few years ago I got a coded message from (dog5) to investigate a Mosque type place in Melrose called "A better Companion" (ABC).  They say it is a doggy day care so, I got my "parents" to take me to ABC and I have found all sorts of interesting things go on there and have met a few other spies as well.  We all get together and play but we are actually passing along great intel for (dog5) and we keep a good eye on the folks  there.  We haven't been able to catch them doing anything illegal yet, but they must be doing something  because they treat us so good.  They are kind and gentle, but try  to use a firm hand.  So we figure they are hiding something because they are soo good to us it ain't funny.  Nobody can be that good.  So we have sent back reports through our (wink wink) parents about this place and all of a sudden more dogs show up.  So If any of you other dogs out there want to help us watch the crew at ABC we need all the help we can get cause sometimes we have so much fun we can't keep track of them all. So thanks and see you all at A Better Companion.

Stella LaCascia

My name is Stella and I am 5 years old and just started coming to A Better Companion about 6 months ago and I LOVE IT!!!  I do not like being left alone and so after a long talk with my mommy and daddy I had them convinced that I need to socialize (I also ate a little too much wood off the trim in my room and I think this may have helped convince them to not leave me alone).  So in the morning when my mommy says "Stella do you want to go to school today?" I just can't control myself.  I run as fast as I can down the stairs and to the car.  I love being greeted by all my friends at daycare.  They smell me and I smell them and it's like we never left each other.  Sometimes I run around with a group of friends and sometimes I just lay back and watch the young ones run around all day.  I must admit I am an attention hog!  If I don't get attention I will let everyone know.  I am not afraid to speak my peace and let everyone know that it's "Stella Time" and I need to be rubbed down now!!!!  I have made many friends at daycare and I just love being part of such a cool group of dogs and people.  I sleep better at night and what's most amazing is that I have lost my appetite for wood!  Thank you all at A Better Companion for taking such great care of me and for letting me be a dog!

Griffin Dygert

“I love going to A Better Companion (ABC)! I wag my tail and cannot wait to get into the car when my dad/master Kurt says, “Okay, Griffin time to go to school.” I love playing with all my fellow four legged buddies, especially Fenway, Kruez, Cabot, Toby, Mello, Gregory, Bella M., the big boys Romeo and Ray, and my new little buddy Gus. The elder statesman Lennon gives me pointers on how to be a good Golden, too. I like to play ball, romp, sunbath (Jim, pass me the SPF 15, dude) and nap while at ABC. The pool or a shady spot under the bench are cool places to hang out on a hot day.

All the staff is so friendly and caring. I feel like Kris, Scott, Nancy and Jim (and Taylor too) are my second family. You show me love and affection when I cannot be with my master, Kurt. You organize fun games for us to play and you treat each of us dogs like equals, yet as distinct individuals. Every month you transform me from a dirty, smelly boy into a handsome, sweet smelling gentleman when you bath and groom me (even if I cannot stay clean for long – after all I’m just a wing-nut puppy who loves to splash in the puddles and roll in the mud – wahoo!).  You guys are the best at ABC!

I’ve met so many wonderful new friends through ABC.  Cabot and I sometimes play in the woods after school or on weekends. This photo is from one of our woodland romps. Hey Cabot, I think I see a squirrel. Oh boy, gotta go!”

What I have to say about ABC:   ABC is a fun and safe place for Griffin to go to during the day. Kris, Scott, Taylor, Jim and Nancy thanks for taking care of my boy. You guys really are the best! - Kurt

Cooper Mendell

I love the days that I get to spend at A Better Companion!  As soon as I see Ben (my dad/owner) packing a lunch for me I know exactly where I'm going and cant wait to get there.  I get to spend the day running around with all my friends causing trouble, chasing balls, and even playing in the pool when it's nice out.  The people there treat me as if I was their own dog and even take care of me when my parents are on vacation and cant take me with them (I almost don't even miss them while they're gone)!

Once back at home, after a day playing at A Better Companion I can barely keep my eyes open waiting for my chance to cuddle up with someone on the couch, I'm even too tired to mess with the cat!

Bella Mullen

"I love my doggie day care! I get to play with lots of friends and the owners are very friendly to me."  -Bella

Here's what we have to say: "Bella loves coming to A Better Companion. She gets to play in a safe and loving place with all her friends."

Butchie Barretto

My name is Butchie and I am a 4 year old long haired Chihuahua.  I've been going to A Better Companion since I was 9 months old.  Every Tuesday and Thursday as my mom leaves for work she says "Butchie, want to go to School?" and I run to the door and wait for my mom to put my lease on.  I get soooo excited when my mom drops me off that I almost jump out of her hands and into the hands of my FAVORITE man, Jim!  He is always ready to give me kisses!!  I also get to play with Bella.  She is Kris, Scott and Taylor's Chiwini and my best friend at A Better Companion!

Ok I have to go to bed now cause its Monday night and I have to get up early and go to A Better Companion!  See you all there!!!   Love, Butchie Barretto

Cabot Welch

A Better Companion is such a great place to go and let off steam!  I love my parents, but they can't play like all of my canine buddies (especially Griffin and Ray).  I LOVE the pool and the new tunnel!    I come home exhausted and hungry.  I use up all my energy at ABC, but I can't wait to go back the next day after a good night's sleep.  Jim says we get our money's worth out of daycare each time.  I always try!  Cabot
