Contents of Yinghan can be displayed in simplified Chinese characters in various ways. Before discussing the various ways doing this, a brief introduction to Chinese character styles is presented.
There are two major Chinese character sets: traditional and simplified. Traditional characters are used primarily in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and other major Chinese population centers outside of Mainland China. The traditional characters were the official character style in Mainland until the 60's when the official simplified characters are introduced to ease the learning of Chinese characters. Simplified character set has a substantial overlap with traditional characters.
The two Chinese character sets are encoded differently. The traditional character set is larger and usually coded in the Big5 code. The simplified Chinese characters are coded in various forms of GB codes. The two codes are not compatible and need a translator to go from one to the other..
Yinghan contents are in Big5 code. It can be mapped to and displayed in simplified characters, with the exceptions of some rare characters that do not exist in the simplified character set. The following are the common ways, in decreasing order of preference, to display Yinghan content in simplified characters:
The software runs in trial mode when the correct key file is not detected. The trial version periodically reminds user to register. The reminding stops when the proper key file is installed. See Registration section for detail.
ChOS has smaller footprint and is faster. If you just need basic Chinese IO support with minimal installations, ChOS is the better choice. Palmdragon has localization and pen writing support but it is much larger and slower. If you need additional Chinese language features and has the RAM space for it, it may be a better choice.
We resell ChOS. Please visit the purchasing section for more information.

Hanying is the renowned Lexicomp Chinese-English electronic dictionary for Palm OS®. Installation of Hanying is now part of Yinghan installation. Please see Yinghan 3.0 Installation section for downloading and installing instruction.
The Chinese OS you installed provides the methods of inputting Chinese characters. Follow the installation instruction of your selected Chinese OS and select your preferred input methods.
Note that if you are using a simplified Chinese character OS, you may encounter the problem of the many-to-one mapping from a simplified character to traditional character. See more detail discussion in the Chinese OS section. Basically, a simplified Chinese character can be mapped to multiple tradition character. You either see a simplified character is displayed more than once in the input selection or one of the traditional characters is not mapped. Using cross-referencing feature from Yinghan to Hanying can bypass this problem.
