ACER (AY-ser): The genus for all maples. A group of small and large trees with opposite leaves, cultivated chiefly for shade and for the ornamental foliage.

Welcome to Acer Gardens web site. Bill & Sharon Harris are the owners of this nursery operated on 18 acres in Deep River, Connecticut. We have grown plant material since 1983. The nursery is situated in a unique location near the Connecticut River and Long Island Sound. Our temperatures are moderated by the Sound and the river valley soil is quite fertile (with a few rocks but fertile). The climate here is USDA Hardiness Zone 6a. Many of the plants we sell are hardier than that. Over the years we have developed display gardens that show most of the plants we sell, the rest are in stock beds, lined out in the field or grown in our greenhouses.
