A fluid ounce is different from an ounce of weight. Solid ingredients can be measured by weight or by volume.
It is common to find liquid (volume) measures used for both dry and liquid ingredients.
Fruits and vegetables are commonly sold as dry measures; however, a liquid pint is not the same as a dry pint (1 liquid = 1.1636 dry), which is not the
same as a British pint. See Additional British Conversions of Note
In the case of flour, a weight of 4 1/4 ounces is preferable to a cup, but most of the time you will see a cup of flour.
