Descendants of Joseph Hopkins and Mary Ward Crispin

Joseph Hopkins was the third son of Hezekiah and Martha Griffith Hopkins, and the eldest to reach maturity and marry. He moved with the family to Ohio, and married Mary Ward Crispin in Warren County in 1827. They had two children before Joseph's early death in 1832. After his death, Mary moved to Preble County, Ohio, where she was married to Isaac Wiley in 1839 by by J. W. Gorden, J.P.

To the Judges of a Special Court of Warren County to be held tomorrow. This is to certify that I relinquish my right to administer to the estate of my deceased husband Joseph Hopkins, and I desire that my brother Rowland A. Crispin be appointed administrator to settle said estate.

At a special session of the Court of Common Pleas convened at Lebanon in the county of Warren & State of Ohio on the 7th day of June A. D. 1832: Were present the honorable George J. Smith, Ulyssys Pierson & Ignatius Brown Esquires & thereupon Mary W. Hopkins widow of Joseph Hopkins decd. The Court thereupon grant letters of administration on said Estate to Rowland A. Cryspan who is to give bond in six hundred dollars with Noah Hains & Thomas Thomas his bail, & the Court appoint Silas Wharton, David Montgomery & David Evans appraisers, & said administration is affirmed in open Court (bond filed & letters issued).
