Birth Doula Services

There is no time in your life as special and wondrous, and no time as full of questions.

A doula is someone who is experienced in childbirth and able to be with you to guide you through. She is someone who understands the changes and the process of birth, and is there to work with your partner and yourself as a team. She will support your choices and goals for your birth, and help you make it wonderful.

Birth doula services include:

1. 1-2 Prenatal visits where we discuss:

    non-medical methods of pain relief

    the stages of labor and birth

    common interventions and procedures

    Birth plan options

2. 24 hour on-call and telephone support:

Pregnancy comfort measures

Answers to questions about end of pregnancy

Is this labor?

3. During the labor and birth:

Massage and acupressure

Non medical pain relief

Relaxation

Informational, emotional and physical support

Advocacy and guidance as labor progresses, or takes a turn from the norm

Photography as requested and allowed

4. After the birth:

Privacy as you bond with your baby

Help with breastfeeding

Photography as requested

5. The Postpartum Visit (1-6 wks postpartum)
