The Basement Bathroom

With three women in the house another bathroom was definitely needed. So we installed one in the basement. It will also make it much more convenient for guests that are staying on the sofa bed in the basement. Makes it much easier to have a sleepover for the girls, too!

Pounding holes into the concrete for the plumbing for the bathroom.

Here the piping has been installed in the trenches. You can see the master sewer cleanout plugs on the right.

Concrete poured on top of the piping and the electrical runs have been put in place. Note that the old windows are still in place. You can also see one of the new furnace duct runs on the wall behind things.

Here you can see the tub and surround installed with the copper piping shining along the walls.
Here we are with the greenboard in place. To the left of the bathroom is a new closet that will provide much needed storage. The flooring that you see is an ugly green tile, much covered in drywall dust.
Door framing and the floor tile have been installed. The door to the closet is in place. The folding doors to the left side of the picture cover the utility closet. The water and gas meter are in here, as well as the sewer cleanout plugs. Building Code requires easy access and lighting, so this is much nicer than the previous build in that was there. The last time we had to clean the drains, I had to remove a wall of panelling to provide the plumber access. It wasn't pretty!
I'll update the final sometime soon so you can see the mirror that was installed over the sink. Light and colorful! This is now the "Girls' Bathroom."
