Kitchen Remodel

Here is the galley kitchen as we are packing it up to move out. The cabinets were new when we moved in 15 years old. Note the "Wall of Information" on the side of the pantry to the right. The Family Calendar and all appointments and important papers were kept here!

Tear out! This is actually about two weeks after the above shot. A beam has been inserted up into the overhead to carry the weight of the wall that was removed. You'll see that better below from another angle.
Here you can see the position of the old door, the new plywood and the new door. The red oak floor is being installed and has been pieced in place prior to being nailed in. This is prior to the framing inspection.

Yes, this is the same view of the kitchen that you see in the picture to the left! The wall has been removed and a beam installed for support. The post is at the end of the stair rail you see in the first picture. The door has been moved to the right.. Wood floor installation finished on July 11th. It will be sanded polished, stained and finished on the 30th of July. Cabinet install has actually been moved up from July 21st to July 18th!. Granite countertops expected first week of August.
Cabinets are sort of in. Most of the drywall has been primed, you can see a bit of the ceiling still has to be sealed.
Okay, we are really getting there! Granite countertops are in place as are most of the appliances. At this point the painting isn't completed and the plumbing is not connected yet.

Here you can see that the paint has been done on most of the walls. Backsplash is in place with the grouting and the accent tiles one of which you can see shining to the left of the mixer. There are two others above the stove that you can see as slightly darker tiles. The buffet is in and has its granite top in place. The kitchen is pretty much finished. Shoe molding around the baseboards and an edging piece along the fridge.

We selected Tan Brown from India for the granite for the countertops. We liked the colors and the browns match nicely with the wood of the cabinets. This is a picture of a small part of the actual slab. We found it on July 17th, even though we were told that it wasn't available in the area at this point in time. We picked out the slabs and they were marked.

The full slab. We selected this one and the one that came out of the quarry right next to it.
The Stairway

Temporary wall that was installed to replace the original wall until the supporting beam can be installed.
This shows the wood floor being pieced together. No insulation at this point.

You can really see the colors here, as well as the granite top of the island with the curve.
