The Patio Replacement

The old patio was concrete, badly cracked and had shifted so that water built up along the house and leaked into the basement.Wood shingles seen on the back wall of the garage have now been covered with vinyl siding.

Waterproofing the basement! Three major cracks into the basement have been waterproofed. A sump was built along the back of the house that drains out into the yard.
This is the same corner that you see in the second photo shown above from the opposite side. The glass brick really does help light up the downstairs, reflecting light off the sides and into the basement. The A/C unit hasn't been connected yet, that will happen after all the drywall and floor sanding are completed.
This is the window that is being replaced with an Emergency Egress window. We didn't have to have one, but wanted it for safety's sake.

Note the very nice vinyl on the eaves!
Cedar mulch in place and grass starting to grow! Side of the house has been painted. Only thing remaining to be done here is to remove the compost pile at the left under the tree. Since this picture I spread most of it out on the bare patches you see here and in the other yards and planted grass. I'll also split the hosta you see and put one to the right of the egress window.
In progress! Still needed the step and the walkway to the driveway.
The basement has been waterproofed, a solid well draining base of gravel and granite dust was laid down and paver stone patio put in place. I see lots of lounging happening here! Note the tree that has been removed from the far end of the patio. It was three feet high when we moved in and was easily 35 feet tall, but was blighted and the roots were a problem for the patio concrete and we didn't want it to mess up the new patio. You can also see the new electrical service that was installed. No more lights dimming when the dryer kicks in or the washer starts a new cycle! Step out of back door and pathway to driveway finished on July 11th. Wood shingles seen on the back wall of the garage have now been covered with vinyl siding.
Ahhhh! Note the new grass and the carefully laid out garden. Brick edging has been sunk in the ground, top soil carefully raked out and covered with cedar mulch. Some hostas have been planted and one of the barrels set up. We have to add some flowers in. If you look really carefully you might see a touch of smoke from the steaks grilling at the left. House has been painted.
