Our Saga's version of the Roman Tribunal is loosely based on the sourcebook, Tribunals of Hermes: Rome, but with more covenants and fewer demons.

The Roman Tribunal is geographically small, but heavily populated with magi. In the middle of the Italian peninsula are the Papal States, which tends to have an unusually strong Dominion aura that suppresses older magical and faerie aurae. Only one covenant, Literatus, exists within the boundaries of the Papal States. Most of the Tribunal's covenants are crowded into comparatively small areas at the northern and southern ends of the peninusla. Hermetic politics in Rome are heavily influenced by the high population density of magi and the competition for territory and resources.

Roman Tribunal Politics

Politics within the Roman Tribunal are particularly viscious because this is the most croweded Tribunal in the Order. Apart from simple territorial rivalries, there are a number of political issues that also divide the covenants.

Recognition of Covenants
Commercial Enterprises
Hermetic Sovreignty
Mundanes Possessing Enchanted Items

Cliffhaven

Cliffhaven is a small covenant located in a sea-cave along the cliffs in Calabria in the Kingdom of Sicily (the "toe" of Italy's boot). The cave was originally inhabited by a band of pirates. A small group of ambitious magi ousted the pirates around 1180 and claimed the pirates' cave - and treasure trove - as their own. The covenant is poorly thought-of in the Tribunal.
