Myth and Legend

Mattman's Electronic Texts of Arthurian Literature
Encyclopedia Mythica
Folklore and Mythology Electronic Resources
A Medieval Bestiary
Tales of the Middle Ages

Medieval History

A Heraldic Primer
An introduction to heraldry written and maintained by the Society for Creative Anachronism.
The Internet Medieval Sourcebook
Aimed at academic historians, this site can be valuable for gamers who are not afraid of a little background reading. Don't miss the Maps and Images page.
NetSerf
This is another scholarly site. It features a glossary of medieval terms.
Odin's Castle
A sprawling archive of history and legend, apparently maintained by an amateur enthusiast. It can be an excellent place to start a search or just to browse for fun.

History of England and Wales

Castles of Wales
Includes lots of photographs of the ruins and their surroundings, with plenty of historical essays. If you are thinking of setting your game in Cymru (Wales), don't miss this site!
Regia Anglorum
This is a historical re-enactment society of pre-Norman England. That's a bit early for the typical Ars Magica game, but the site is a good source for information about everyday matters like crafts, commerce, hunting, recreation - you know, the things that get left out of most history books.
A Welsh Course
It has an online dictionary, and if you are braver than I am you can also attempt to learn grammar and pronounciation.
The Chronicle of Ystrad Fflur
English translation of a real historical chronicle from a Welsh monastery, covering the years 1201-1282 A.D. If the above link is dead, I have a plain text version on this site.
Timeline of Medieval English History

The Medieval Church

Ars Magica is set in a world much like the Middle Ages of historical Europe, so the Church plays an important role in the game world.

The Catholic Encyclopedia
Patron Saints Index
The site's emphasis is on saints who are venerated in the 21st century, but of course the medieval saints are well represented there.
