Arts of the AIKI BUDOKAI

Budokai offers instruction in Aikibudo (Harmonious Energy Martial Way) which consists of three sections:

The first section, Taijutsu (body arts) employs locking, striking and throwing. Descended from classical Jujutsu and traditional Aikido, these simple, effective techniques are based on the fundamental elements taught to beginners in the Introductory Program.

The second, Buki-ho (weapons use method) teaches important concepts (distancing, timing, etc.) through the study of traditional Japanese bladed weapons (using wooden training swords) and staves.

The third is Kenkojutsu (health restoration arts). This section develops skills from Shiatsu (acupressure), Sotai (a gentle form of structural realignment), and Amma (deep tissue massage). This hands-on experience is an important key in developing an understanding of body mechanics and muscular structure.
