About the AIKI BUDOKAI

AIKI BUDOKAI means literally, 'The Harmonious Warrior Way Association.'
Founded in 1996 as the Kenbukai (Warrior Arts Study Society),
we are a group dedicated to the study and practice of traditional 'Warrior' arts: combative, healing and cultural.
We train together Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoons at the Tenchi Kempo Dojo, 20 Rugg Road in Allston, MA.

Aims of the AIKI BUDOKAI

  • To provide a safe, supportive environment for learning,
    growth and development;
  • To instill the Warrior spirit in practitioner's everyday lives;
  • To give members, through the sincere practice of Bujutsu ('martial' skills), the tools to continually better ourselves
    and our world;
  • To present a correct view of 'martial' arts (and artists) to the general public;
  • To help train safe, sane, healthy individuals who are beneficial
    members of their communities, and of society as a whole

    In mid-1999, the dojo underwent the transition from a private club to a public school. Guided by the Aims, we use Shugyo to kenkyu (austere training and research) as the core of dojo activities.
