We actually started out "easy" on the first bathroom, in the master bath and closet we're moving the shower and vanity to different locations.
Before...
Howdy started by ripping out our shower and vanity and taking apart part of the floor to prepare for the plumber.
Then he built the new wall for the shower.
While Howdy's Dad was here we put him to work as well, installing the window and building a new linen closet with Howdy.
Next it was time to say goodbye to our vanity, lights, and bathroom step.
Howdy did all the electrical and all of the framing of the new bathroom and closet area including this new arch.
Having a full time job now, that took quite a few weekends, but that was finally done. To keep the project in this decade we hired out the drywall and texturing.
Finally it was time for Aileen to start painting.
So as we head into Christmas we have our new closet area all painted and we're ready to come back and build our closets. It sure will be nice to get all our clothes out of our bedroom (and every other bedroom in the house).
First we started with the new linen closet we had added in the hall (this is called feature creep!)
We had hardwood floors installed in our new master closet which of course meant we were totally moved out of our bedroom for a week. Then Howdy went about building the inserts for the closets. I painted all the pieces, along with the doors with a rented sprayer, and then we were finally ready to install them. As you can see, the girls were a big help!
Since we were already on track to have the longest bathroom remodel in history, we decided to hire a contractor for the tile. He started with the floor, then did the shower, and the band around the bathroom.
Howdy built the wainscoting to go around the room from cherry. This was especially hard since we have absolutely no even walls thanks to the contractor that did the drywall. I stained the wood to match the cherry, and did all the finishing for the wood.
Feels like it's getting really close, doesn't it! Well once we get the shower door, toilet, sink, and faucet installed it should be useable. So check back here soon. You'll eventually even be able to see Howdy's fancy schmancy arced mirror!
