I am a human being motivated by Love.
Marie T. Russell
Most of the big changes in this country (the end of slavery, women's right to vote, end of war in Vietnam) have taken place when only 1% of the population stood up for change. You can be one of the 1% that turns around the energy on the planet we call home. Let's stop doing the same old thing over and over again expecting new results. Let's try something different. I know this is not a new concept, but it is one whose time has come.
Let's ask God/Goddess/All That Is to bless everyone—not just America—whether we feel they "deserve it" or not. Let's open our heart and wish that everyone on the planet experience the blessings of love, prosperity, and freedom (freedom from fear, repression, hunger, etc.).
We are a powerful force—human beings motivated by love—not greed, not power, not revenge. Love is the key that can unlock the door to the future that we seek—one where we can live in peace and harmony with all of our neighbors—whether they live on the "other side of the track", the other side of the building, or on the other side of the world.
Imagine
Ralph Marston
Imagine life being exactly the way you would like for it to be. Imagine working easily and naturally through the challenges that each day presents.
Imagine creating real and lasting value as the result of your efforts. Imagine moving steadily in the direction of your most treasured dream.
Imagine reaching that dream and then building an even more magnificent dream to take its place. Imagine the sense of fulfillment and purpose that comes from living true to the authentic person you are.
Imagine spending each day making a positive contribution to the world in which you live. Imagine making a difference in the lives of those around you.
Imagine the beauty and richness of a life fully lived. Imagine a world in which that fulfillment spreads quickly and easily from one person to another.
Imagine life at its best, and in your imagining experience every detail, every sound, every color, every texture, every feeling. Then take a deep breath, hold your head up, step forward and truly make it happen.
Believing you can, you can. Though you might not.
Within
Kate Nowak
There was once a wise woman traveling in the mountains who found a precious stone in a stream. The next day she met another traveler who was hungry, and she opened her bag to share her food. The hungry traveler saw the precious stone and asked if she might give it to him. She did so without hesitation. The traveler left, rejoicing in his good fortune. He knew the stone was worth enough to give him security for a lifetime, but a few days later he came back to return the stone to the woman who had given it to him. "I've been thinking," he said, "I know how valuable the stone is, but I'm giving it back in the hope that you can give me something even more precious. I want you to give me what you have within you that enabled you to give me the stone." ~ Author Unknown
Sometimes in our continual drive to get ahead, we forget that the things we gather around us, no matter how precious they might seem, pale in comparison to the love and light we hold within.
The Seven Wonders of the World
Author Unknown
Junior high school students in Chicago were studying the Seven Wonders of the World. At the end of the lesson, the students were asked to list what they considered to be the Seven Wonders of the World. Though there was some disagreement, the following received the most votes:
- Egypt's Great Pyramids
- The Taj Mahal in India
- The Grand Canyon in Arizona
- The Panama Canal
- The Empire State Building
- St. Peter's Basilica
- China's Great Wall
While gathering the votes, the teacher noted that one student, a quiet girl, hadn't turned in her paper yet, so she asked the girl if she was having trouble with her list.
The quiet girl replied, "Yes, a little. I couldn't quite make up my mind because there were so many."
The teacher said, "Well, tell us what you have, and maybe we can help."
The girl hesitated, then read, "I think the Seven Wonders of the World are:
- to touch...
- to taste...
- to see...
- to hear... (She hesitated a little, and then added...)
- to feel...
- to laugh...
- and to love."
The room was so quiet, you could have heard a pin drop.
May this story serve as a gentle reminder to all of us that the things we overlook as simple and ordinary are often the most wonderful—and we don't have to travel anywhere special to experience them.
Did You Hear It?
Barbara Aldrich
A raindrop fell down
All the way from the heaven's clouds
To the cold, hard earth below,
Leaving a splatter on a rock.
Did you hear it?
A leaf fell from a tall, strong oak,
Bumping into twigs and branches,
Rocked gently by the breezes,
Then lighting on the blades of grass.
Did you hear it?
The wind tossed a tumbleweed
Across the desert,
Over rocks,
Between passing cars, unscathed.
Did you hear it?
Cat paws walk with careful stealth
Across the yard
While sparrow lifts itself from an egg-filled nest
To save itself.
Did you hear it?
An eye twinkles in a weary face
Releasing a tear
To trail down a cheek, over quivering lip,
To fall on a breaking heart.
Did you hear it?
