Subject: THE RULES OF GOLF
This is to remind all members of our golf club that we play all our tournaments in accordance with currently effective “THE RULES OF GOLF”, as approved by the USGA and The R&A.
It has come to my attention the certain members of our club have been letting a few specific rules “slide”.
1. All holes must be “holed out”! No “GIMMIES” are allowed, no matter how close to the hole the ball lies, including a ball which might overhang the lip of the cup.
2. No ball at rest may be moved from tee to green. If the ball is moved by intent or by accident, except as allowed by Rule 18-2, it must be replaced and the player incurs a penalty of one stroke. “BUMPING” or moving the ball in the fairway, a hazard, the rough, in a bunker, or anywhere except when allowed by “The Rules” is not allowed under THE RULES OF GOLF. In certain weather conditions, we may allow players to “lift, clean & place” the ball – a local rule which will override “The Rules” for that day’s play only.
Your playing partners may not say anything to you during the match, but rest assured that they notice. Please remember to play according to “The Rules”, so that we can all enjoy the competition and the camaraderie to the fullest extent possible.
Thanks for your consideration,
Jay
