Josh, Christian, Mary, Andrew, Josh, and Alan at the Kona, Hawaii Temple, May 2008 |
Brief Family HistoryWe, Mary and Alan, were high school sweethearts. Soon after Alan returned from an LDS mission in Madrid, Spain, we were married in October 1985 in the Jordan River Temple. We lived in Provo, Utah while Alan attended Brigham Young University. Mary worked at WordPerfect Corporation to help support the family while Alan attended school. Andrew was born in Provo in 1989. We purchased our first home in American Fork, Utah in 1991, not long after Christian was born. Alan's employer, WordPerfect Corporation, transferred him to Albuquerque, New Mexico, in January 1993. We lived there for almost 2 years. Novell purchased WordPerfect and closed the Albuquerque facility in December of 1994. The company moved us back to Utah, and we purchased a home in Orem; where we lived for 10 years. Josh was born while we lived in Orem in 1997. While working for SunGard, Alan graduated from the Executive MBA program at the University of Utah in May of 2003. Mary had always planned to go back to school when Josh entered first grade. After she was accepted to study at the University of Utah, we decided it was the right time to move to Salt Lake county. We moved to Holladay in the summer of 2003. Andrew graduated from Olympus High School in May 2007, and attended the University of Utah for one year before going on an LDS mission. Mary graduated from the University of Utah with her bachelors degree in accounting in May 2008. Christian graduated from Olympus High School in May 2009 and will attend the University of Utah for one year before serving an LDS mission. Mary will graduate with her masters degree in account from the University of Utah in May 2010. Education is obviously a big part of our lives. We have enjoyed living in the Salt Lake City area and being closer to our favorite ski resort, Alta Ski Area. We also have made many friends there. Additionally, we enjoy our membership in the Valley View 11th Ward and the Holladay North Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We enjoy traveling, golfing, skiing, music, running, restaurants, movies, video games, and just hanging out together. |
