Cover Letter
To Whom It May Concern :
I am currently a Vice President of Product Management at SunGard Higher Education. I have served with distinction in the software industry for over 22 years in Product Management, Engineering Management, and Technical Leadership at such companies as WordPerfect--Novell--Corel, Intelogis, Symantec, and Campus Pipeline--SCT--SunGard Higher Education.
I enjoy individual contribution as well as technical, product, and group leadership. I graduated with honors in May 2003 with an MBA from the University of Utah . My MBA and 8 years of software product management experience when combined with my 14 years of software engineering experience, provides me with a well-rounded perspective of both the business and engineering sides of the software industry.
I have served all former employers with loyalty and excellence in software development through technical, business, and managerial leadership. My groups and departments have delivered quality and critically-acclaimed products and services on-time and on-budget. I have managed employees while keeping their productivity levels high under many tough conditions, such as being at a remote facility, reductions in force, site and group relocations, and being acquired. I have developed group, department, and product business and marketing plans, fought for approval, and then delivered as promised.
I am easy to get along with, and despite the tone of this letter, I am not egotistical. I have learned that you can learn something from everyone. I treat others with honesty and respect.
I demand the highest level of performance from myself and those around me. I am constantly concerned with producing the most with current resources and maintaining a high level of efficiency. I am self-motivated and require no supervision. I make sure my objectives match those of whom I serve, and I organize myself and my group to meet those goals through proper management skills as well as project planning and tracking.
Sincerely,
Alan Drew Hansen
