| Andrew Lass, born in New York (1947), grew up
in Prague and lives in South Hadley (MA). He is a professor of social and
cultural anthropology at Mount Holyoke College. In the autumn of 1968 he
joined the Prague surrealist group; in 1973 he was expelled from Czechoslovakia.
However, since 1990, he is once again involved in the group’s activities,
its exhibitions and contributes to the journal ANALOGON. In addition to
photography, he writes essays, draws squiggles and is the author of several
collections of poems.
Mandala and The Game of the Blind Old Hag,
written in Czech, were published in Prague in 1995. Free association and
chance encounters are his guiding principles throughout all his work. His

Andrew Lass, narozen v New Yorku (1947), vyrostl v Praze
a žije v Jižních Hudličkách (stát Massachusetts, USA) kde působí jako profesor
sociálně kulturní antropologie na Mount Holyoke College. Na podzim roku
1968 se stává členem pražské surrealistické skupiny. V roce 1973 byl z
Československa vyhoštěn ale od roku 1990 se opět účastní skupinové aktivity,
kolektivních výstav a přispívá do časopisu ANALAOGON. Kromě fotografie,
píše eseje a čmárá perokresby. Je autorem několika básnických sbírek. Mandala
a Hra na slepou bábu, psané česky, vychází v Praze jako III.Svazek
Edice Analogonu (1995). Drží se principů náhody a volné asociace a jeho
nature
morte nejsou nikterak aranžovaná či digitálně zpracovaná.
