Young children learn best through hands on,
real life experiences. The purpose of a well planned
field trip is to add to the in class curriculum.
In a typical year I will schedule several field trips.
Information about these trips will be sent home with
your child well in advance of the event.
Your child's safety is an utmost concern.
Because of this we strictly adhere to state laws that
require that children of a certain weight and height
(not either/ or) be in a booster seat when travelling
in a car. These height and weight requirements affect
all children in the early grades. When we travel to a
field trip site in private automobiles, you will be
required to send a booster seat to school for your child.
Unfortunately, if you don't provide a booster seat we
will not be able to take your child on the field trip.
If you plan to volunteer to help on a field
trip you will need to be finger printed in advance.
Because of the complexities of modern day life, Albuquerque
Public Schools (APS) require that all adults who will
be alone with children, as in the case of field trips,
be finger printed. The specifics of how to be finger
printed through APS may be obtained from the school
office. I can also put you in contact with parents
who have gone through the process.
The link below has a printable version of
the APS release forms that must be completed and signed
each time a child goes on a field trip.
Please help make field trips a reality for
our class by volunteering to help when you are able to do so.
