Quilting

You can see my other quilts and my challenge projects here.

I have been quilting for about 6 years now and have been thoroughly hooked.  I plan my vacations around fabric stores or quilt shows!  My husband doesn't mind as long as there is a fishing spot nearby - his passion.   As I finish my projects, I try to add pictures and a bit about the project.  As you will see from the next page, every quilt has a story, from the time it was conceived, to picking the pattern, color and fabric, to the quilting design, to the final disposition of the quilt.  My favorite, and most labor intensive project was the Double Irish Chain Wedding quilt I completed in September 2001 for a very special couple.   The project with the tightest deadline was making three quillows in one week.  Yikes!

My recent projects have included a monthly challenge sponsored by the rec.crafts.textiles.quilting newsgroup.  These are projects associated with the month name.  So in March, it was miniatures; in April it was attic windows and in August it is appliqué.

Wedding quilt - 9/15/01

This quilt was made for a wonderful coworker who recently was married.  I had very little warning of the wedding, so I was in a quilting frenzy for several weeks.  It was also the largest quilt I have made to date!  They loved the quilt - and thought the colors were perfect as well.

quilt label    This is the label I printed onto fabric using my computer. It reads "This quilt is presented to Bill and Natalie, as they start a new life.  Starting as best of friends, now they are husband and wife."

Thanks for looking! Stay tuned! I have tons of UFOs in the process of being finished.

Quillows

My daughter and sister were coming with my husband and I to Florida to celebrate my mom's 80th birthday.  Since we were traveling by Autotrain, I made my sister and daughter a quillow for the train ride.  I made my mom her quillow as a birthday present.  I made all three in one week!
