On the Hill We Viewed the Silence of the Valley

1993

When we sit comfortably at home and experience new worlds through our various interfaces to virtual reality, it's easy to forget someone has to actually go out there and experience the way alien sunlight feels against the skin, the way the air -- laden with harmless bonetree pollen -- smells as it is drawn into the lungs, the soft yielding muscle-mountain cell colonies beneath one's feet, and the sound of the world's jet stream, far closer to the surface than ours, like distant continuous thunder filtering it's way down through strata of air.   Here, we see a pair of clones, well known popularizers of xenoarchaeology and universally acclaimed VR recording artists Shana and Anahs doing their thing, their omniport hovering at hand in the middleground.

This is one of several pieces in which I tried to make a bit of a visual fugue with counterpoint shapes/gestures in the negative spaces.   This is a really large piece impossible to fit on most screens without losing lots of detail.   If you want to see some detail, look here and here.

Let's see if we can spot the over thirty-five's out there.   You get extra bonus points if you know the origin of the name for this piece.   Those who do may also figure out which artist's style inspired me this time.
